  1. Hi, listening to the new drivers, You are right .... So my "improvement" turned out to be counterproductive .... Strange that the guys from eckhorn.com use them on the Khorns ... Yours, Mic
  2. Hi, You are right, indeed I took a look to the specs but I discovered at www.eckhorn.com that they use this drivers for the squawker but coupled to a wooden radial horn .... But if I did not understand everything wrong regarding horns, the lowest frequency for a driver as specified in the data sheets does not take into account the horn coupled to it in reality. That means that a certain driver could have a lower lowest frequency in function of the horn attached to it. Am I right ? Any help is appreciated .... Regards, Mic
  3. Hi all, this evening I replaced the original ACR K 55 1" drivers with a pair of new EMINENCE EMD2002S-8 drivers and I have to say that there is now more detail and better resolution. Also they seem to be more dynamic .... Problem is that the Eminence are a bit too loud so I have to put in place a L-Pad as well, I think. However, for 66 (= $ 55)/pcs. it's a fairly good investment. So I'll keep going on playing around hoping that the Tractrix Horns will arivve soon. Yours, Mic
  4. Hi, for the time being it's pretty much std. Khorns with the execption of the Fostex I placed above the squawkers with a simple U shaped holder .... When I test the Jabos I will have to substitute the whole mid-tweeter arrangement and then I'll place some photos .... Yours, Mic
  5. Hi all, I like to keep You all informed about my last mods I put in place. After the BK Sound xovers I installed 2 Fostex T 925 A tweeters with Fostex L-Pads and I have to state that the Fostex are light-years ahead of the T 35. Next step will be to test a pair of Jabo Tractrix squawkers which are originally equipped with 2" drivers but I think to put Eminence 1" drivers in place with an adapter. On my existing squawkers I got on one channel some distorsion and today I discovered that there was a slow contact on the xovers so I am very happy having resolved this issue .... Now with a good sound, I discovered also that 95% of my CDs are really awfully mixed; seems that all sound engineers mix only for cityblasters .... Do You have made the same experience ? At least I got a pair of Burmester test CDs which are perfectly mixed and so I have a benchmark for sound .... Nice listening to You all, Mic
  6. Hi all, this evening I think I settled the issue of mindphasing trebles .... The original xover had a 4.7 Ohm resistor in series with the tweeter and I now put it into series using the new xovers in AA mode ... Well, sounds good now ! Probably the tweeters are not in spec with the ones mounted on original K'horns .... However, thank You very much for Yr. interest ... Yours, Michael
  7. Hi DeanG, thank You so much for Yr. reply .... Now having substituted the original ACR xover (which featured no filter for LF and some simple 1st order for MF and HF) the B&K in the AA mode sounds nice on LF and offers some more detail on MF but blows my ears on HF. Maybe I have to add some resistor on the tweeter to reduce power. If I remember correctly, there were some xovers with just built-in resistors to adjust HF. Important to notice os that the drivers for the ACR clones should be Fostex or something like that .... While the LF horn was buil ton Klipsch plans, MF horn was casted by ACR and equipped with some driver .... HF seems to be a T-35 but noone can be shure it's original EV. However, the speakers sounds nice and old tests on german press granted good overall evaluation on the ACRs ... Thanks again, Michael
  8. Dear all, I have a pair of ACR Khorn clones which were originally equipped with a rather simple xover. I now bought a pair of B&K Sound xovers which can be simply rewired from AA to A circuit. Is there any helpful guy out there who can explain to me the difference between A and AA xovers ? Any help is welcome, Regards, Michael
