  1. Hey guys thanks a ton! I would of never knew what the Digital coax connection was for. My RCA receiver didn't have this, so I must of overlooked it all together. I was happy to see that my spare DVD player DID have the digital coax plug! I just hooked it up and am now living in true surround sound. Also, because of your guys' suggestions, I realized that my digital DVR box had the same connection. Wow, I never knew I could have surround from cable tv, what a difference. Thank you!! A couple of little things: 1. I need to replace this spare DVD player soon, because it does this thing sometimes where the audio starts to lag behing whats actually happening. I have to stop and hit play to correct it. I'm looking for the best I can get for under $200. I need to play CD's too. 2. To the Pioneer user's what settings do you use to listen to your movies? I cannot figure out which one I like the best.
  2. Hi guys, I want to thank those who helped me pick a receiver within my budget. I eneded up with the Pioneer 1015. I'm hoping you guys can help me again. I set up my system but I'm not getting a true surround sound. All the speakers seem to be on the same channel, but their not. And the sound level isn't half what the standard stereo mode will do. My sub won't even work with the tuner or during a dvd. I have confirmed that this sub is working. Could it be my dvd palyer? My dvd player is one of those Radio Shack, RCA 300 watt surround sound systems. As you can tell, I upgraded the speakers! Now, I just run the movie through the Pioneer 1015 with the two rca plugs. Where is the surround sound that the RCA receiver had? I suspected this DVD player had something to do the missing sound. I have another DVD player but for some reason I could get the audio to work. I swear I plugged those 2 audio plugs into everything in the back of that receiver and pushed every button. Any ideas why this might not work? Probably some setting on the receiver I cant find. Also, when I turn on just the tuner, in standard stereo mode which powers only the the front rf-63's, the 63's are like twice and loud as when I turn all the speakers in another surround mode. I thought, more speakers = more sound, but with the just the 63's they go crazy, why is this? Thanks guys for your help!
  3. Alright guys, I really appreciate all your help. I just bought the Pioneer VSX-1015TX based on your advice and research. It should be here early next week, I can't wait. Before these speakers, I've been using one of those Radio Shack specials. Its an RCA DVD/receiver player with its 6 tiny(4"*6") surround speakers. I may have commited a sin by plugging my Klipsch speakers into this 300 watt receiver. I can't wait to hear the difference with some real power! So now that I'm getting rid of the RCA DVD player, any advice one a DVD/CD player that works well with the 1015 receiver? Can dvd players be controled through this receiver? My TV is a Samsung 50" DLP if that helps at all. Thanks again!
  4. It looks like I can get an Pioneer Elite VSX 52TX (slightly used) off eBay for around $400. Would you guys recommend that over the 1015 (new) for around the same price?
  5. Hi guys, thanks for all the advice so far. What is everyones elses opinion of the pioneer 1015? I seem to be leaning towards it. From what I see it looks great and it has great reviews on other sites like cnet. Another quick question, are my rf-52's going to work well as surround?
  6. Yes, it seems people really like the Yammy. Any idea on how many watts per channel I should look for?
  7. I see the Yamaha RX-V657 on ebay for $320. I really like all the features it has including the HDTV function and YAPO. My question is, is 95 watts per channel enough? The Best Buy sales person said I should go for 140. Also, is there an amp like this that has the ipod hook-up? The ipod will probably be my primary souce for music as it already is. Thank you for the suggestions so far!
  8. As far as set up, I'm really not too sure what I want. What can I do with my current speakers and a sub? I did go to Best Buy and the guy was trying to sell me a Yamaha that was an older model that had 140 watts per channel that was around $500. Sorry, I didn't get the model number. Regarding the budget, um, thats kind of what I'll tell my girlfrined I paid. ;o) I may pay a little more. However, I am thrifty with my money. I don't mind buying last years model or even a used receiver, if it gets the job done.
  9. Hi guys, I'm brand new to the Klipsch family and the world of HT. I recently purchased some speakers to start setting up my HT. I have the RF-63's, RC-64 and RF-52's that I will use as surround (hope that works), now I need a receiver. Can you guys recommend something that will power these well for under $500, if possible? I would like to also listen to music and have an I-pod hook-up. Any links would be helpful. Also, would you recommend a sub or are these speakers enough? Thank you!
