  1. Just acquired a MINT Dual CS5000 and looking for best matched catridge. Considering AT 440 mla, Ortofon OM20, Denon DL103, Shure M97XE and possibly Shure V15VxMR. I am still all ss, but a 300B integated amp is still a future consideration. Listen to everything... classical, jazz, rock, etc.. I understand DL103 is moving coil (my 3250b has phono stage inputs for MC as well) although I have never used it. A good friend suggests that the Denon DL103 is the way to go with my system, but I don't know if it will work well with the CS5000. Dual C5000 manual recommends Ortofon, but I understand they were almost together at that time and that it reproduces classical and jazz real well (left the rock out). I have read nothing but rave reviews about the AT 440mla and I like the pricing (about $100) many comparing it more favorably than the Shure king (V15VxMR. Not Shure (pun intended) it's worth the $500.00 price tag for a discontinued cartridge. Finally, Shure still has the M97XE, supposedly a very good cartridge for around $100, but according to what I've read doesn't rank with the AT 440 mla. I have been told that this CS5000 has a "low mass" tone arm and that the Shure (either cartridge) is not a match with this TT. Thanks, Scott
  2. Check these out... I've never seen these before (pretty wild looking). http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=011&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=320073546479&rd=1&rd=1 Were these really made by Klipsch? Scott
  3. Hey Guys, After 27 years, when I bought a brand new pair of LSBLs in 1980, I'm just now wanting to experience tube sound (I have apparantly been in SS bliss wirh my LSBLs for many years without knowing anything else). I am looking at several integrated tube amps: Sophia 300B Integrated (wife loves the looks and they supposedly have the best output tubes), Mcintosh MA2275, Cary 300 SEI, Cayin A-88T or any other suggestions you might have. I guess separates are still the rule in the tubular realm, but I would prefer a "one-box solution" as I don't intend on getting rid of my Marantz SS gear. I'm very good at buying; lousy at selling. Don't know what would really sound the best with my system. Heard wonderful things about SET amps. I suppose I'm a prime candidate for an "entry level" push-pull amp, but I'm not sure I'm willing to go through the learning process to ""tune" the amp by changing tubes to my liking. I live in a very rural area of the Texas hill country, so a demo is difficult. Any advice would be appreciated, Scott
  4. I have a brand new pair of BEC tweeters for sale, I got them from BEC while he repaired my original K77's from my '96 LSBBs. They are perfect...only used them for a couple of weeks. I was planning on keeping them, but my better (or worse) half has a problem with the idea. Asking $100.00 plus shipping. Thanks, Scott
