I am in total agreement on another forte II as the ultimate. It is not an option for most though. I owned a pair of forte II's and tried several centers (all klipsch) and the academy was by far the best alternative. While not perfect, it sounded about as good as you could hope for and will beat the pants off of a boston acoustics (it's not even gonna be close). The price range I have seen for an academy has been about $250 - $500, but the condition is all over the board. I sold mine recently (I would say it was in mint condition and the guy that bought it said it was better than any one he had seen) and I got $400 for it. Finding a single forte II might be tough.
