I don't know what you have for "original equipment", if it's tube you try some alternatives to what you are currently using. I have a Cayin TA30 integrated amp that made my Forte II's too bright, I replaced my 12 AX 7's with RCA 5751's. It really sofened the top end, no more nail in the forehead. Can't help on the bottom end, but I'm sure there will be responces from the rest. Good luck.

I read some where that too short of an interconnector is not a good thing. Any thoughts?

I currently run a Cayin TA 30 with Forte II's, this was my first entire in to tube amps and I have to say I have been very pleased. I worked with Paul at buzzybee and was really happy with the results. I found the Chinese amp to be substancial, reliable and a joy to listen to. For limited budgets and pleasing sound you can't beat it. I don't think you have to spend a ton of money on HIFI equipment to find something that is satisfing. The Cayin was an affordable entire into a whole other level of musical enjoyment. I would buy it again if I was starting over.

Parrot, thanks forn the post, I read the same about the 17/12 match. I have a Cayin TA 30 as my main system and real like the tube sound, looking to build a secondary system.

Thanks Craig, I knew you were the go to guy, I'll give the link a look. Any recommendations on tube preamps, thought I read that tubes up front made for a good combo w/ss.

Long time daily reader, rarely contribute. I just picked up a HK Citation 12, looking for opinions on preamp match. First thought is the JM Merlin, I know the Blueberry would be nice but budget won't allow. For now I'm using the preamp side of an old Marantz 2270, speakers are Forte II's. Craig do you have tweeks for the HK C 12?
