  1. Roy: I tried to send you a message, but I may not have done it right, as I am new to the forum. Or you may have tried to reply to it and your reply may not have made it to me. Either way, I am interested in those used K48 woofers, so drop me a line at jamesgregory@mac.com if you can--thanks! James
  2. Ha! I didn't realize that 1973 Lancia was a car! I just liked the name Lancia, and thought it would be a good last name if I could choose another one for myself: "James Lancia". 1973 is the year I was born. So that's all it is! My car is a 1996 Nissan Sentra with a bad clutch and the two driver's side doors crushed in from being hit by an uninsured driver! For better or for worse, what money I have tends to go to into electric bass gear, audio recording gear, and audio stuff in general! Thanks for the welcome . . . James
  3. Thanks everyone for your advice. It's great to have a forum like this. I did get an email this morning from a very nice and helpful gentleman over at Klipsch technical support, who informed me that, "The magnet of the K-48-E woofer is not something that typically can just be re-glued back on. During the woofer/driver manufacturing process, strict tolerances are used and we ourselves do not even attempt repair of woofers (reconeing included). There are only a couple of individuals that I am aware of who recone speakers...doubt if they would additionally provide magnet replacement. Here is their links if you wish to contact them: http://www.woofer.com/ http://www.speakerex.com/ also: ". . . the original K-48-E has been superseded to the K-48-EP # 121534...it should still be available yet, may be rather expensive replacement part, as this was a pretty substantial woofer used for this particular model)." I replied to his email, and got another, in which he said, "BYW...the replacement woofers are likely just under $240 each (Russ or Gregg in Parts can confirm for you) if you just to give a rough idea for the shipper to make any claims." Still figuring out what I need to do to regarding the claim (unfortunately, it is up to the shipper to deal with filing the claim--whereas I as the receiver are the one that REALLY has interest in getting this thing resolved!) and everything else, but in the meantime I left Roy a message regarding the woofers that he may have to sell. Buying the woofers used may be the way to go. Thanks again! James
  4. Hello: I am new to the Klipsch forums, as I am a proud new owner of a set of Chorus I speakers which I purchased on eBay. After admiring a friend of mine's set for years, I decided to finally Or should I say, I am currently a not-so-proud owner. You see, due to a not-quite-adequate packaging job, and/or mishandling by the shipping company, one of the speakers arrived damaged. The top right corner of the speaker in particular showed signs of having been dropped, as it was just a bit crushed in (not too bad, but a bit of a bummer as the speaker cabinets were in really good condition other than that). The worst part was that there was something heavy rattling around inside of the cabinet. Yep, you guessed it--the magnet to the woofer had completely detached. I read some threads about this issue and found mixed advice about what to do. What I am wondering is (1) is the magnet able to be re-attached (re-glued) to the speaker itself, and (2) can I do so myself, or should I seek out a competent, experienced speaker refurbishing specialist, or (3) should I just order a new woofer, or a new pair of woofers? Thanks for your help-- James
