  1. Lots of responses, thanks!

Now my TV is probably 30-32" off the ground on a make shift stand, not quite the best. On top of it, my center speaker is off center which drives me nuts.

What is the height of yours Strutter?

I have plans for adding glass front cabinet doors to the right and left side in the future, but for now i can hold off on it.

I hadn't thought about leaving the space in the middle shelf open behind the speaker, I may have to make that change.

As for room for an RC-64, it jumps up like 6-8 inches on the width required, and that seemed like too much.

  2. I finally decided to get going with planning my Tv/entertainment stand I've been planning for awhile now. I have just finished with my design ideas and made these 3d models to check them out. I have a 56" JVC LCOS TV that will sit on this. I designed the middle shelf to hold my center channel speaker, right now on RC-3, but it will support an RC-7 for future upgrades. The other shelves will be for components and my 360. The pull out drawer in the middle is to house DVD/Games.

Let me know what you all think.

  3. Looking to buy a pair of oiled walnut Heresy II's with slant risers, in exc condition, for around 475.

From here I'd need something to run them. From the same dealer I can get a Marantz 2220B for next to nothing, then I'd just need a cd player for source material.

I also have a possible opportunity to acquire a Marantz 2270 Stereo Tuner for around 180-200.

Wanted to know how either one of these would sound with a pair of heresy's for 2 channel stereo. I do not have much experience with vintage gear, but am definitely intrigued.

Does anyone have much experience with either of these tuners? And in particular with Heresy's?

    Thanks in advance

  4. I have read a lot about having proper amplifier power for the speakers, even though they have such high sensitivity. My older yamaha is rated at 90 wpc x 5, but it isnt as clean. I went to Best Buy and demo'd a Denon 1907, all they had hooked up to some Klipsch RF-82's. This receiver sounded so much cleaner and crisp than what I have at home.

    I'm probably a 60/40 split of 2 chanel stereo/ HT use.

I do not care about all the extra surround fields etc. I just want the basics, but with good clean power.

I want to have good imaging for stereo.

My theatre room is approximately 20' x 18'. I have one open wall space in the room- the right wall at the back corner, about 5 feet. Other than that it's a perfect square shaped room.

Eventually I'll be using either an OPPO or an HD-A20 for my source material, vs. the 360 I use now.

Just looking for any kind of help. Sorry if I left it pretty broad.

  5. Well, sounds like i just got WAF!

Probably would need to stick to looking at a major retailer, a part of the deal with her that I won't go into.

Can you help me compare the HK-347 available at Best Buy and the Denon AVR 887 from Circuit City?

How does the Denon AVR1907 compare to the avr 887? I read the 887 is similar to the 2307ci?

    Thanks,

  6. I have this exact TV!

<>It has been everything and more I
would have hoped for. Amazing picture. My neighbor across the street
has a Mitsu DLP, and my father in-law has a samsung. The picture on my
JVC blows it away. Of course I say that, but my wife and mother in-law
think its amazing how much better ours looks.

<> <>One of the things i'm most pleased with is the standard def PQ, sweet.

<><>This is a great deal they are offering right now, and that price is a steal, IMO.

    <><>I
researched these, along with others, for months on avsforum. They have
great threads, model specific. I HIGHLY recommend getting this TV, but
even if you don't, you owe it to yourself to check out that site. I'd
be happy to tell you more if you want.

  7. I was finally able to demo this sub. I've been looking forward to doing so for quite sometime.

I found it to be unfortunate that the dealer didn't have the
best room set-up. I had spoken with them ahead of time, and they were
able to get one set up for when I arrived. The room was pretty
cluttered, and they didn't have the speakers or sub in an ideal
placement. Due to time constraints, I was unable to re-position
    everything.

<> Overall, I was quite pleased, as the sub had
great articulation and blended extremely well with the mains. Which, I
might add, was my first experience with the RF-83's. Very nice indeed.

I do feel the 83's were too much speaker for the room and sub. I
currently have the RF-3 II's. So I am not concerned about that issue if
I get one home. I'm considering an upgrade within the next year to the
    63's...but another issue another time....

    <><> <>I was
bummed that the sub, which they had just unboxed, had a glue residue
all across the top. I'm sure this was from the protective plastic. Has
anyone else had problems with this? The dealer said he would be sending
that unit back to get replaced, but I of course would not want to run
into such a situation. I'm sure cleaner would get it right off, but
hopefully not the finish as well.

I'm still working on the WAF, $ wise. But hopefully soon I'll be able to give personal feedback from my set-up.

<>For the meantime, I would love to hear any other impressions people could share.

    <>

    Thanks

  8. Well, down here in Houston, we call that texture style "Monterrey Drag".

In one of the products I build, this is standard on all walls and ceilings. This is done for our more expensive homes. It is an excellent texture for hiding imperfections, and usually does match well for future patch work.

You can adjust this style to your liking. You are essentially spraying on a much heavier layer of texture than you would with an "orange peel" finish, and then dragging across the texture. If you spray a little lighter texture than the extremely heavy one shown, you can end up with an excellent finish.

As far as paint choices go, flat is definitely the way to go. You want to aviod any sheen on your walls to minimize on room glares, etc. In you nice media room, hopefully your kids woulnd't be running around unsupervised, thus minimizing hand prints, etc. Flat is also really easy to touch up.

  9. with so many sub options. I keep wavering back and forth...

i've been wondering about the rsw 12 and 15...are these good musical subs. I'm sure they will rock for HT, but i'm about 70/30 music/ht.

    Thanks
