  1. I can answer my own question bout whether my speaker can be repaired. It can. In the speaker repair biz, the deteriorated diaphram is one of the most common problems needing repair. No need to throw the speaker away. It seems that the foam poly matierial used is best for sound quality, but unfortunately will need replacement after some years. The repair is called "re-edging" or re-foaming. You can send your speakers in to be repaired, or you can do it yourself with a re-edging kit. For about $30 bucks, a DIY re-edging kit will do two speakers, enough for both 4.1 subs. http://www.speakerrepair.com/instructions.html It looks fairly easy to do...

  3. I've had my Pro Media 4.1 system for about 6 or 7 years - the original version. The diaphrams on both subwoofers apparently dried out and crumbled, so they won't push air. I read here that the 6.5 inch subwoofer componant on the promedia 2.1 system will work as replacements in my 4.1 subwoofer.box. I called about a week ago and ordered them. However, I received what looks like small satellite speakers, no where near 6.5 inches. That aside, when I called to purchase the correct solution to my subwoofer problem, I was told that the subwoofers from the 2.1 system will not work in my 4.1 subwoofer box. I was puzzled because it seems that people on this forum agree that the 2.1 subs will work in a 4.1 system. I was further puzzled when the Klipsch repairman on Ebay, elliot electronics, also told me that 2.1 subs will work in the 4.1 system. Can you please un-confuse me Amy, so that I can solve my problem and get back to enjoying my wonderful Klipsch system?
  4. I don't know much about speakers, except I really enjoyed my Promedia 4.1 system for the past 7 years. Now the subwoofer has crapped out. actually, the flexible foam around the rim of the speaker cones rotted i guess, and fell off both of them. Can this be repaired? If not, can I buy other 6.5 in woofers to fit? Failing that, is there any new comparable subwoofer that would work with my sattelites? And, last resort, what set of new speakers would be comparable to the great sound of and bass kick of promedia 4 or 5.1's? (i'd use my old sattelites on my tv in that case.) Thanks for any info

  6. I have had my Klipsch 4.1 ProMedias for about a year, and I absolutely love them. My problem is that my daughter put a small plastic toy all the way down the throat of the opening where the air comes out in the subwoofer. I want to unscrew the back and get the plastic farm animal out.I've no idea what it looks like inside the box. Is this advisable? I'm afraid to play any bass for fear that I might damage it. Please advise.... thanks. Gunthr
