  1. Thanks for the info. That clears things up. Ron
  2. Believe me, I've read the instructions for my receiver, sub, speakers, etc. and the information on how to connect the sub is conflicting. I've also read the previous posts on this forum and they seem to conflict with what you are saying to some extent. If I use the unflitered LFE input on the sub instead of the left or right filtered line inputs, will I receive bass from the sub when watching HDTV sources that do not contain Dolby digital sound? Are there other advantages to using the LFE input on the sub? If I do use the line inputs on the sub, previous posts as well as the directions on my speakers indicate that the speakers should probably be set to small in the receiver and the crossover in the receiver should be set to 80h. I also understand that when using the line inputs on the sub, the crossover on the sub should be set as high as possible (160hz) to avoid the effect of "double filtering." Is this correct? Any clarification or additional advice is appreciated. Ron
  3. I recently purchased Klipsch speakers (RB 82 fronts, RS 62 center and RS 52 surrounds) which I am using with an an existing sub (Polk PSW350) and an older Onkyo TX-SR-600 receiver. The receiver has a single "subwoofer pre-out" output and I currently have all of the speakers set to small with a crossover in the receiver of 80hz. The sub has an unfiltered LFE input as well as filtered left and right "line inputs." Which input on the sub (LFE or line inputs) should I use to connect the sub to the receiver? Also, with the Klipsch speakers I have, where should I set the crossover on the receiver and on the sub? I use my system, primarily for home theatre use. I know enough about this stuff to be dangerous, so any advice is appreciatged.
  4. Thanks Jet, that's exactly what I needed to do. My receiver does have DD, DTS, etc. so I think I'm good to go. I just wasn't certain if the receiver had enough power for the speakers, until I can upgrade the receiver in the future. Ron
  5. I currently have a Mits 57831 HDTV and I'm in the process of obtaining RF 82 fronts, RC 62 center and the RS 52 surrounds. My receiver is an older Onkyo TX-SR600 rated at 80 watts per channel. Will the receiver I have drive the speaker I'm obtaining okay, without damaging the speakers, until I purchase a new receiver? Also, what new receiver in the $500 - $700 dollar range would you recommend I consider? I listen primarily to movies, DVDs and just a small amount of music. Thanks in advance! Ron
