  1. Spoke with the buyer... he would have beat my $700... so I don't feel so bad now. He's a little nervous about the sellers feedback too... said he'll let me know when he gets the speakers. I'll let you know how he makes out. I think he got a steal, hopefully it works out for him.
  2. I think most of the negative feedback was due to people not reading the auctions carefully or the item not being in stock... The company is a huge Discount Warehouse with 100,000's of items, so sometimes they can't find items, etc... There are stretches of like 500+ transactions in row with good feedback... I didn't see anyone saying they got ripped off either... so I think it was worth the risk.
  3. I know he very well could have had $1000 or something... I tried to go back in and bid $700... but I didn't have enough time... I asked the winning bidder what his reserve was last night, curious is $700 would have been enough... He hasn't replied, but if he does, I'll report back.
  4. I thought about that... but you can't see who is bidding... so it's risky, what if the buyer was looking for a 3rd speakers for a center channel or something... then I'd be stuck with one without any leverage to work a deal... couldn't risk that.
  5. yep, that was them... 2 separate auctions. I figured if I won the first (which went for $660), I would have bid like $1000 to ensure I won the 2nd auction... but alas I was outbid in the last few seconds on the first (I had $650)... the seller was a huge discount warehouse, with only avg. feedback (10% neg. feedback)... I think that kept bidders away... hopefully it works out for the winner, I sent him an email congratulating him. Now it looks like I'll go back to my original plan of getting new Heresy III's... their smaller size will make my wife happier anyway...
  6. $1300 I almost won but was outbid by $10 in the last second... Curious is that a good price?
  7. Thanks for the replies. I'll be playing everything on them... my musical taste runs from classical/jazz to heavy metal... but probably the genre I listen to most progressive rock - King Crimson, Camel, etc.. I'm sort of leaning towards the Heresy I or III's right now for size reasons... I can deal with less bass for the time being... heck I'm currently using 4" fostex speakers... so I'm sure the Heresy's will be a big improvement to what I'm used to... How much better is the Heresy III than the I?
  8. What do I buy? I have a 300B SET amp - 10-13 watts... and I'm going away from single driver speaker, as I would like a more full sound. Space is a bit compromised right now, I mean I could fit a big set of speakers, it just may look a bit weird or overpowering in my avg. size living room... Here's my options: Heresy I - I can get a pair in good shape for $275... Heresy III - I think I'll like the increased sensitivity w/my 300B, said to have better sound and bass vs. I and II's and I like the look of these and so would my wife. I would need to sell my current speakers before buying, not a big deal. Cornwall I or II - They would work in my room, but the wife won't be super happy with their size. Altec Valencia's 846A's - I can get a pair locally in beautiful shape, but there's the same size issue as the Cornwall... Thoughts/Advice?
