  1. Members, I need your advice on making a speaker choice. I am seriously considering upgrading to some vintage Klipsch speakers. Currently I'm using KG4's but am now looking at some options. I have located some Cornwalls, Chorus and perhaps Forte's in my general area ( I am looking at about a 250 mile radius). All speakers are in the $600-750 range per pair. Assuming all are in very good condition what is the consensus among those who have experienced these different Klipsch speakers? I have not had the opportunity to listen to any of them and given the locations and such I will not be able to do a side by side comparison in my living room. room size 14 x 18 marantz 2238b / 2 channel marantz SR7200 5.1 titanic sub smooth jazz, rock, classic I need experienced advice here. What say you all?
  2. Does this mean that the capacitors should be tested somhow? If so how would one do that? or is it more practical to simply replace them?
  3. I have read numerous posts and items regarding the rebuliding of crossover cirrcuts. As a rookie, I'm still learning, how does one know if your speakers actually need to be reworked? Is there some noticeable sudden change? Or is it a gradual decline? With my aging ears I may not even be able to detect a drop off in sound quality. If I want to attemp to redo/upgarde crossover cirricts, how do I learn the basics? Thanks JP
  4. I just picked up a nice pair of Klipsch KG4 speakers at a garage sale. When I got them home and fired them up there was a rattle in the left speaker. The horn was bad. Turns out, the horn in the box was not orginal equip - some aftermarket junk. Called Klipsch parts to buy a new horn and was told only the driver was available - not the entire horn with lens!! (hows that for customer support!) What can I do with this? Anyone know where I can get a replacement? new or used? Don't really want to put some other tweeter in but would consider recommendations from someone who knows what to match to the crossover. Thanks for your help!
