  1. Klewless, that's a cool idea, but I don't have room for that many speakers. I'm probably going for two Cornwall III's. I'm beginning to lose my nerve to get a single K-horn. It seems like a pretty neat compromise at the moment, but I'd be in a real jam if I begin missing stereo later. Budman, I'm in Tennessee, but I'd rather purchase the new III's. Thanks anyway, though, and thanks to everyone for the input.
  2. I'm trying to decide on Heritage speakers for my new den, which is 20'x12', and at the moment I'm considering either one Klipschorn in mono (only one corner in the room can accomodate it, and I couldn't afford two anyway) or two Cornwalls. I think mono sound would work fine in that room because stereo "sweet spot" listening will be impossble because of the location of doors, windows, fireplace and furniture. Wasn't the K-horn pretty much designed to fill a room with monaural sound anyway? Would two Cornwalls do a better job of filling the room sonically? (Two Cornwall III's cost about the same as one new K-horn). I had been considering Heresys and posted a question about them a couple of weeks ago, but it seems that their tweeters would be too low to compete with some big cushy chairs, and I do not want to mess with stands. I'd rather bust the budget on bigger Heritage. The biggest pitfall I can see by getting one Klipschorn is that if I miss stereo, I'd be stuck, because adding a second K-horn would be impossible. But would I be likely to miss stereo with a Klipschorn filling up the room?
  3. Thanks to you all for the advice.
  4. I just don't think stereo would sound that good in there, though I could be wrong. The speakers would be so far apart that there would probably be a big hole in the stereo image. Also all chairs would be so far off-axis that I'd be hearing one channel more than another wherever I'd sit. The location of various windows, doors, fireplace, etc. makes it impossible to place a couch or chair right between the speakers. At least in mono I'd hear everything. But I won't know for sure until I get things set up in there.
  5. I'm thinking of using Heresy III's in a new house I'm moving into. The room is 20'x12', with ceilings that vault beginning at 8' up to 11'. Anything near on-axis listening in this room will be impossible, so my plan is to put them in the corners of the long wall (for placement convenience and bass) and perhaps listen in mono. I realize any kind of imaging is out of the question here. My goal is to fill the room with good sound. Can Heresys do that, or are they too small? Klipschorns and La Sacalas won't fit (can't afford them anyway), and I doubt if I have room for Cornwalls either. Would Heresys be up to the job? Thanks!
