  1. if i hook an amp up quick to the passive inputs on the sub will it bypass the internal amp so i'll know if the woofer is the dead part? does klipsch sell the woofer/amp as parts and how much do they run? thanks
  2. Purchased a KSW12 on ebay, finally got around to hooking it up. [] major bummer, and it's been a month since ive purchased it so fighting for my money back is out of the question. Just makes loong grumbling crappy muddy sounds, very distorted. How can I tell if i have to replace either the woofer or the amp section?
  3. http://www.crutchfield.com/S-IX2T3b2FoYo/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=82600&I=069900078&search=crossover
  4. Its called a passive crossover. How about this: I throw passive crossovers/cheap line level filters between the pre and power amps so the power amps only amp the desired band and then leave the crossovers in the speaker intact to. worth it?
  5. also, is that digital behri you suggested from personal experience? I read some reviews from people using it for live sound reinforcements and they tell tales of it randomly changing x over points and blowing woofers and also alot of them starting to hiss... I'm not sure how worth it biamping is if I turn my system into subpar with the kind of crossovers i can afford (the behringer you recommended for $230 is all i'd want to spend)
  6. because most of my listening is to 2 channel music.. more of a home audio setup. so another question.. how much of a pain is it to remove the crossover in the rf-3s? do i have to do any soldering? isn't it only a 2 way speaker?
  7. i would need DI boxes to go from TRS to XLR though, right? that would be $$$$
  8. So how many would i need? how exactly would i route them? I see most of them just have XLR, my poweramp only has unbalanced inputs, my preamp has unbalanced and xlr's, so i'd have to use like a D.I. box off of this to go to the poweramp, right? does this do the splitting for me from one input signal? (one input to low output and high output)
  9. Are there any affordable and good active x-overs you guys can point me to?
  10. I have a 7 channel amp with two leftover channels, and a pair of RF-3's as mains. I know the RF-3s have two pairs of binding posts on each but can they be biAMPed (not just biwired) without using an active crossover or does klipsch recommend one? Thanks!
  11. i was going to pick up an outlaw surround preamp and run into two of these, but figured i could use this for now as a preamp and poweramp for music. any other suggestions for the budget? What i liked about this is that i could potentially spend only around $300 now and have all i need to listen to music well and then add as I go along (rear channels, surround preamp, etc)
  12. any other suggestions to get my foot in the door with a class a/valve setup? Or like i said before, do valve amps not match the Reference series? How many watts would i need out of a valve amp to drive RF-3s and have plenty of headroom?
  13. I have been seeing these: http://202.186.86.35/audio/review.asp?file=/2001/4/12/audiofile/12sound&sec=audiofile "Soundstage Stage 1" Tube supposed class A hybrid amps selling for around $350 on ebay. Am I thinking horribly wrong or would one of these (2 x 35watt output) drive a pair of RF-3's and make a good combination? Is there any other Valve Amp options in that price range? Or is valve amping a waste of time with the Reference Series and considering im using a solid state pre/pro?
