  1. Well, I'm finally putting aside my RF3's and RC3 and getting some Dynaudio Contours 1.4's. with a Contour SC center. I was using Finalsound electrostats for a while (I had a thread looking for a sub to complement them) but the real crossover point was around 120, so I decided to go back to my RF3's with my old junky (but reliable) JBL sub. Now I'm getting the 1,4's and would like a nice sub, preferably a sealed one. I was looking at the Dynaudio sub 500, Klipsch RT10d, Martin Logan Depth, B&W ASW750, or even the Rel 305 (or 505). Does anyone have any experience with these subs? I've seen that a few people on this board have or had Dynaudios. What are you using with these speakers? I should also mention that these speakers will be in a small to medium size condo living room, so maximum spl's is not a giant factor.
  2. Agreed. will be the either two velo spl 8000 or 1000. Thanks for the advice. Just curious. In an old post, you said you were going to test the James emb1000. did it stack up against the Sunfire and velo?
  3. Great advice on the Velo's. Looks like I'll probably wind up with the velo spl800r (two of them) when I get back from my vacation to Canada (Calgary and then over to Vancouver). One last question. Have you (or anyone) checked out the B&W PV-1. The reason I'm asking is because in several reviews, they say that the bathysperical shape eliminates enclosure vibrations , making it much easier on the "neighbors" downstairs. Home Cinema Choice says it's one of the "fastest" subs they tested but without a lot of oomph for movies. More bass without a nasty note from the condo association. BTW, they also tested in the same review the tiny James emb1000. Down to 15hz's with incredible shake. Just curious if this sub has entered your collection.
  4. Sorry, EAR. didn't see your previous post in my last thread. Will check those out. Again, Thanks for your expert opinion.
  5. Thanks for the reply, EAR. Appreciate your honesty. As you probably saw in my previous post, my problem is a pretty small room with "fast" speakers. Want clean bass but since I watch 90% movies so want the oomph. Looking for a small footprint, that's why I needed some opinions on the sunfire or Earthquake. I'll probably also check out the Velo's and the Martin Logan Grotto. If you have any opinions, would appreciate.
  6. EAR, You seem to be the expert hear on the mini subs. Have you had a chance to listen to Earthquake's new minme 8" sub, and if you have, how does it compares to the Sunfire Super Junior.
  7. Well, it looks like it's between the Eathquake supernova mkIV or the Sunfire True eq or maybe the junior (the 8" cube). Any advice on these?
  8. Anyone! Anyone! No suggestions?
  9. This is from my last thread that I mistakenly started. Would I be mistaken to leave out the RD-10d. My room is approx. 12 x 8ft. is an RD-10d overkill. I'd like to get the best subwoofer for the money, however, was wondering if I'd lose anything by getting something that (I think) would overpower the small room playing at normal levels.
  10. You're right. Realized that after I posted.
  11. For those who read my last post (What subwoofer to get), would I be mistaken to leave out the RD-10d. My room is approx. 12 x 8ft. is an RD-10d overkill?
  12. I'm new (to writing in) to this forum but have been a klipsch owner (RF-3's, RC3, and synergy surrounds) for many years, and whenever I've had a question, I've always found an answer in this forum (generally looked for TheEars response). Well, now I'm writing in. After ten years of Klipsch ownership, I've decided to move in another direction and get Electrostats made by the Dutch company, Finalsound. My panels go down to around 80 hz (though I feel they're closer to 100-120). They are wonderfully clear, extremely natural, and very fast. They're in a small room in a condo. I'm about 6-7 feet from the TV (where, of course the center panel is). I'm looking to mate these with an accurate, clean sub that can play in the upper sub regions and also have a little oomph down below. My choices would be easier if the room wasn't so small. Final's 12" sub is a little too big. Looking for a 10" woofer. My choices were the new dynaudio 250 or 300. the Martin Logan Grotto, The Klipsch RSW-10d, or velodyne's SPL models. I'm open to any suggestions and would appreciate any feedback.
