I think you guys are right... Yes sorry about the redundant post in the other category. I really didn't know which topic to post in.
Any way to tell if this is the sw-12 or the sw-12 II? http://www.klipsch.com/products/discontinued/details/sw-12-ii.aspx#specifications
Yea, this looks exactly like those speakers... so they came from a subwoofer.. aha! Now what's weird is I have two of them. You wouldn't normally buy a pair of these things, so someone got two of them and built them into a particle board woofer box that they used in their car or truck... (when I removed the speakers from the cabinet, the vibration had basically eaten away at a lot of the particle board... these 12" woofer were packed into a 3 x 1.5 foot cabinet made out of 3/4 pressboard with marine carpet glued onto the outside. It was hideous! (only in Arkansas!)
The rubber surrounds appear to be in ok shape.. there is a hole in part of one that someone appears to have used silicon caulk to repair. The voice coils seem to be ok.
So as I understand it, the crossover is at 120Hz.... any recommendations on what to do with these things? Since I only paid $3 for them, I don't feel like I can't experiment.. maybe stick them in a homebuilt cabinet with some tweeter or midrange -- I don't really need any subwoofers. Anyone have any recommendations on the source of a crossover that would work well with these guys?
Thanks for everybody's help!
