  1. Ar you sure you don't have room for Cornwalls? Mine are in a 12'x12' room and they sound amazing in the room and in abutting rooms as well. Cornwalls are such a great speaker.
  2. Mine are in a 12' x 12' room and I love them. They have so much presence even at low levels. I listened to some Heresys and they just lacked that kind of undeniable presence that the Cornies have. If you like to listen to music very loudly, you might have a problem with a square and smaller room.
  3. So far my leads are a Scott 340B, Fisher 500C or a McIntosh MAC 1500. I really need this to be a receiver preferrably with a phono stage.
  4. I'm inching closer and closer to being the proud owner of a pair of Cornwall speakers. [<)] I'm trying to find a suitable tube receiver to pair them with. I've heard the Fisher 500C is a great receiver. What other vintage receiver should I consider? Anyone have any experience with the McIntosh MAC 1500 (a hybrid receiver - tube amp and tuner / solidstate preamp) and Cornwalls or other Klipsch speakers?
  5. Thanks everyone. Very helpful. The seller has offered to let me try them in my room so I guess what is there to lose... (besides my wife)
  6. Well that's part of the problem, there is very little wiggle room as to where I can place the speakers in the room. On top of being a small room, all corners are obstructed, there's a window on two of the walls, 2 closet doors and 2 two doorways. So my options are quite limited with such a big footprint speaker. I listened to some Heresy III speakers (on a different set up) and I didn't find them as warm, lively and fun as the Cornwalls. I think part of it had to do with the difference in tube amps used in both cases. But yeah, the Cornies did rock pretty seriously...
  7. I listened to some Cornwalls and love them however the room I'm working with is 12'x 12'x 8' with no available corner to place a speaker. Are Cornwalls just going to overpower and not breathe enough in such a small space? Has anyone used them in such a confined space?
  8. Do you know what town the Cornwalls can be previewed in?
  9. The guy decided to suddenly up the price by $150 and also drop their age by 12 years. [*-)]
  10. Well it has a quarter size chip to the top of the veneer and I can't preview it which makes me nervous. According to the seller it hasn't been modified or serviced since he bought it. As long as I'm not passing on the deal of a lifetime...
  11. for $300 (early 80s model)? Am I crazy to let this one slip?
  12. whao! Thanks for the detailed instructions. I might actually try it on an old desk that needs work before I attempt any speaker repair. Just out of curiosity do you restore and sell on Craigslist in Texas?
  13. I have the option of buying a pair of Heresy from the early eighties but there's a quarter size chip on the top. Looks like a veneer more than real wood in the photo. I thought the old cabinets were 100% food?!?!? Is that not true. Anyway of repairing a veneer chip if that is indeed the problem?
