  1. Its confusing, 4.1 is 4 channels with a lfe channel, thus 4.1.

I can't seem to find that subwoofer input jack? All I got is 2 stereo miniplugs. 4 channels, no separate sub input, thats 4.0,

    Right?

The ProMedias separates it's own bass from 4 full range analog inputs thru 2 stereo miniplugs. no 5.1, no 7.1, no 7.2, no 5.0, no 4.1.

There is no connection for a low freq. effects channel.

  2. I'm so happy with my pro's I wouldn't spend extra to change/redesign them. Leave them the same, maybe stepped attenuators instead of rotating pots. Boost the quality, not the flashy, can't work together, features of A3d,EAX,(analog & 4channel, that don't support the s/pdif) or subwoofer input that is already delt with inside the pros?

If you want to put AC3, DTS,& a open source multi-channel decoder and mix down into the preamp, then I'll shell out more cash! Quick!!

  3. your s/pdif, does AC3 passthru & stereo s/pdif. None of the cards I've seen will give you A3D or EAX or any surround other than AC3 or maybe DTS passthru to an external decoder.

The 2000 can accept the front and rear analog output for game surround, and use the s/pdif input to decode the AC3 but not the DTS surround. The Panasonic decoder will decode the DTS sound.

Win-DVD or Power-DVD will both give you 4-channel mixdown w/ghost center channel on any cheap soundcard with front & rear outs.

But for under a $100, it takes that load off your cpu and gives you a remote.

  4. . I would love to find-out what voltage-P2P gives the best volumes? (the 3.5mm miniplug analog input of my ADA106 has a 300mV for full output, and when I use the s/pdif it drives the sub and sys at best levels)

    . I have seen preamps with values of 100mV, 300mV, and 500mV.

. I'll bet most soundcards don't have enough juice to push the Klipch, many who complain of poor bass or brassiness may have this problem.

. My daughters cheap boombox drives the v2-400's much louder than my notebook which is louder than the analog from my soundcard.

. I really don't want to spend $300 to have the ability to decode dolby prologic, dolby digital, DTS sound, downmixing, and level adjustments of individual chanels.
