  1. To: RFP Rob, Thank's for posting the great pictures (looks wonderful). I very much appreciate the words of encouragement. I must admit, purchasing the cross-overs, horns and JBL's on word alone has been a bit un-nerving. It is especially satisfying to hear that the combination that I am going with has done well for others. Thanks again, Frank
  2. To: George Roland George, Your horn mount assembly (motor board) looks great. Did you purchase it, or build it yourself? If you built it, I would be very interested in what materials you utilized and any tips you can offer. Thank you, Frank
  3. Many thanks to all for your input. Although I was pondering the possibility of building separate enclosures for the tweeters, I really did not want to compromise the appearance of my Khorns. That said, I am very pleased to hear from so many that a side location of the tweeter doesn't seem to be a problem. With that behind me, I think that I will locate the tweeters on the outboard position in the cabinets. Thanks again, Frank
  4. I am in the process of upgrading my Khorns with ES400/Es5800's, 2404H tweeters, and Trachorns. I am curious to know if any current Trachorn owners have experienced any negative sound quality issues associated with the tweeter being located adjacent to the squawker (as apposed to above it). Thank you for your help, Frank
  5. I very much appreciate all of your experiences and input. I went on a shopping spree and bought several 2404H's (couldn't pass them up), and will soon be buying a couple of CW-125's. Once I get all of them (and can find some free time), I will do some near-field SPL/Feq. testing with TrueRTA (just to see how they compare analytically). After that, the most important testing....some good old fashioned listening. If I ever get done, I will let you know what my findings were. In the mean time, please continue to add your opinions and/or experiences to this thread. Frank p.s. I am a bit lost on the "Jubilee" reference. I see that it is a speaker intended for theater use, but am not very familiar with it. The only thing that "sticks-out" in it's specifications is it's relatively limited bass capability (45Hz). What makes it better than the Khorn? Are there consumer (veneered enclosure) versions available? Still in production? Cost?
  6. Thank you tc. I might just purchase both, the CW125's and 2404H's and listen for myself. Then, sell the one's that I pass on. Yes, it will waste some money. But, I will not have to wonder "what if". That is well worth the money to me.
  7. Thank you for the input. Do you feel that the Beyma and JBL are fairly comparable, or does one stand out? I have read a few comments on the JBL that toute it as being the "pinnacle" of tweeters. Even so, I am a bit nervous about buying expensive, used drivers that are no longer in production. Hence my interest in talking to those who have already tread this path.
  8. Thank you for the input concerning the drop-in benefit of the CW125. Although this could certainly be a consideration for many, my primary focus is sound quality. As such, modifying the upper compartment (if necessary) is not a "show stopper". Of course, the ideal situation would be that the CW125 is indeed the best performance choice. That, combined with it's physical compatibility would make it an absolutely great way to go. Thanks again.
  9. I never should have started reading this forum! Too late now, I've got the upgrade bug. With that in mind, I would like to know your opinions/experiences with the following tweeters, and which one you consider to be the best for the Khorn: JBL 2404H (Low on my personal list, only due to its scarcity and related replacement part costs.) Beyma CP25 Crites CW125 I will eventually be upgrading the X-overs to ALK units. Either the 12dB, or extreme slope units (haven't decided yet. Might need some help with that later). Thank you in advance for your input, and thank you for all of the great posts that have inspired me to bring, what I hope will be, a new level of enjoyment to my Khorns.
