  1. That statement by itself would be misleading. It either sounds better to someone or it doesn’t.

Setting speakers to small adds bass to the sub. Setting them to large leaves it

as just lfe. How in the world can that be a sure way to kill the bass?

And being a question that gets asked a ton. It’s probably more

a rehearsed answer than anything at this point. Too many variables (room taste

and gear). I personally have tried so many ways for hours and hours and to me

full range sounds just a tad better. When

I had a smaller system I liked it a tad more set to small (80 Hz).

Well, I myselft, would think Chris is right in that statement considering his background. I just thought I would add that to the discussion, since the discussion was leaning toward "just set them to full range since they have ten inch woofers in them"

  2. here is a quote from Chris (Audyssey) Look at the last part, this is a answer to a gentleman that was asking about his sub seeming lower than normal after room correction.

    1. Your couch is close to the back wall and the bass buildup there is telling the measurements to cut more than needed. Moving the mic at least 18" from the wall usually fixes that even ...if it's not exactly where your head will be.

    2. Your couch is in a deep null (usually near the center of the room). MultEQ limits how much boost it applies because putting energy into deep nulls is not effective.

    3. You have a personal preference for higher bass levels than the film reference that Audyssey sets. This is easy to fix: just turn it up for your own preference. The MutlEQ response is not affected.

    4. You have been listening for a long time to an uncorrected sub with a big peak at one frequency. Once that's smoothed out some people report "missing the punch", but in fact they are now able to hear content above and below that peak that was previously masked.

Finally, I hope that none of your speakers are incorrectly set to Full Range. That's a sure way to kill the bass going to the sub.

  3. Outlaw 7125:
Power Output: 7 x 125 watts RMS at 8 ohms, all channels driven from 20 Hz to 20kHz with less than 0.05% THD 7 x 190 watts RMS at 4 ohms, all channels driven from 20 Hz to 20kHz with less than 0.05% THD

i wasnt discussing the THD but the power ratings themselves.

I was not insinuating anything rather you are make inferences. I am surafcing information that allows a person to realize that the power ratings are apples to oranges and not apples to apples. Because of the difference in testing, there should be a power derivation. Aside from the information listed, this was something discussed when i called outlaw prior to ordering my amp. I hadnt realized how emotiva rated their amps until they told me and i looked at emos test spec sheets and noticed it. After buying my outlaw and having it work as an amp should IMO while my xpa-5 didnt and my syste, is the same down to the wires, can i justify $300 more for an amp with less power per channel and a smoother sound...Yes. You and others may not agree with this but if we all couldntjustify it, rotel, b&k, mark levinson, classe, mcintosh would all be out of business.

XPA-5 test data via their test spec sheets (please reference for the 1kz test data spec)
    http://emotiva.com/specs/XPA-5%208ohm.pdf

It would be nice if outlaw also delivered spec sheets like emotiva does but they dont.

O, ok, so Outlaw told you. I believe it then. [;)]

  4. Was called today by my rep from the place I bought my speakers. Was told that the six week wait I was told on the original rf62 was basically a false statement. I was never getting the older version like I wanted. I called klipsch myself and spoke to a somewhat rude person in product support. Asked if it was possible to still get the old reference rf62s and was told "not unless I build a time machine". I held my tounge and called my rep back and he said he would send a email to the guy he was dealing with.

    Crossing fingers.

  5. also, when you compare any of the emotiva amps to the outlaw amps, keep in mind that emotiva rates their amps at 1khz and outlaw rates theirs full range. If you pit emotiva agaisnt outlaw, both at full range, youd notice that the emotiva amp produces less power. The xpa amps will still produce more than the outlaw but it will be less than the 200 per channel.

Please tell me where you received or read this information? Are you saying that it would be better to pay 300 more dollars for less power because outlaw supposedly tests their amps at full range(which is have never read) and emotiva only to 1khz?

Total Harmonic Distortion: < 0.05% at rated output, all frequencies, 0.01% at 1 kHz. OUTLAW?

  6. I am not a sub guru like SuBXeRo

    [:|]

Ive only talked to ONE sub guru on this forum, and that was THE EAR. He had actually listened and owned more subs than we will ever own in a lifetime. I would consider this guy to be more of a guru because of this. xero ruled a sub out because he called and couldnt get someone on the phone and ruled another out because he "heard" mixed reviews. IMHO, he is missing out.
