  1. I have been peicing together a synergy setup to go with my kenwood VR-8060 receiver. I don't plan on replacing the reciver and Toshiba PS DVD/VCR unit until all of the format and output issues with blu-Ray and the new surround formats are resolved. I picked up a KSC-C1 about 9 months ago and loved the sound, so I looked for a pair of klipsch towers to round out the front soundstage. I have some SF-1s as my mains, and they match nicely though i would bet if i found a SC-1 it would be slightly better, but that can wait. The system is rounded out by a Yamaha YST-SW105 which for the price I paid is great and doesn't make the neighbors in my apartment angry, so I have no intention of upgrading this in the forseeable future. I am having problems selecting my rears though. I know ideally it would probaby sound best getting a SC-1, SF-1, SS-1 combo for 5-channel sound. I am stuck between getting SS-1s or SS-5s. The only problem I have is availability; SS-5s are easy to come by and relatively cheaply at that. The SS-1 is near impossible to find, and only show up maybe once a month on ebay, and I always miss the biddding war at the end to get them because I work long hours. Speaker Specs: SS-1 frequency response 65Hz-20kHz±3dB power handling 100 watts maximum continuous (400 watts peak) sensitivity 94dB @ 1watt/1meter (equivalent sound energy) nominal impedance 8 ohms tweeter Two K-101-S 1" (2.54cm) Aluminum dome compression drivers high frequency horn 5" square 90°x60° Tractrix® Horn woofer K-1076-S 5.25" (13.34cm) IMG cone / cast polymer frame SS-5 frequency response 77Hz-20kHz+/-3dB power handling 50 Watts Maximum Continuous (200 Watts Peak) sensitivity 90dB @ 1watt/1meter (equivalent sound energy) nominal impedance 8 ohms tweeter Two 1" Polymer Dome Compression Driver Tweeters high frequency horn 4" Square 90-Degree x 60-Degree Tractrix Horn woofer 4" Poly Cone Woofer My question: Is it worth it to go through the annoyance of trying to get my hands on a pair of SS-1s or will the SS-5s treat me just as well? This is taking into consideration that I'll probably be utsing the SC-1 for my center channel in the near future. I know that the 50W power handling is something to take into consideration, but how much power really ever gets sent through the rear channels? Thanks in advance!!
  2. so you are saying only the old ones will play ps2 and ps1 games as well? i'm sorry but your response got a bit technical for me. Thanks
