  1. Hello again everyone, I haven't posted since 8/2/08, so I thought I'd bring you up to date. I am still enjoying my Synergy F-3's. Just this month, Circuit City has started carrying them at $479. each. I doubt they will sell very many at that price. That makes 3 chains here in Daytona selling the Synergy line now, BB, CC, and HH Gregg. They all have the F-3, but none of them carry the C-3 or the S-3.??? Well I took your advice and bought a C-3 center channel to match my F-3 fronts! You can't get it here from 3 chain stores, but AMAZON had it for $200, and shipped it for free all the way from Montana! "Splain that to me! Well I went and did it! I bought a Yamaha RX V863 to replace my Onkyo 605. This receiver sounds fantastic. I'll be months trying to figure out all of it's giz moes. That is my big question. I would like to hear some comments from others who have this receiver. I will need some help in tweaking it. Herb
  2. HI Todd, Perhaps you know the answer to this one. A while ago, I bought a Yamaha YST-FSW150 powered sub. This is a great little sub for my limited space. It certainly can't compare to some of the "THUNDERERS" from other brands, but it adds a nice little "punch" to a small room. It is designed to be used with other Yamaha components with a separate control cable. Q Can the new Yamaha 663 receiver be made to turn this subwoofer on and off? Thanks Herb
  3. Hi, I am now using an Onkyo 605 with with my new F-3's. It sounds great and there is nothing wrong with it. This receiver would probably meet my needs for quite some time to come..... BUT, I have got an extreme case of UPGRADE ITIS FEVER,so I have sold the Onkyo! Now, I think I want a Yamaha! Can anybody give me some comments on the Yamaha 663? The 863 has 10 more watts and better video upscaling for an extra $400 bucks. Other than that they appear to be the same receiver. How do Yamaha and Klipsch go together? Thanks,
  4. Hi' Thanks for your input. $200 is a great price . I might order one to have a set. I just can't fit it into my ent. center without serious modification. Then, it would be behind and slightly below (3 inches) the top edge of the Sharp Aquos 42" TV. I am afraid the TV would block the sound. The other option is to Place the C-3 on top of the ent. center (72" high) This would put the C-3 about 30" higher than the 2 F-3's. ??????? Any ideas? Thanks H
  5. I recently bought a pair of F-3's by accident. I went to CC to buy Polk M 70's, but they were out. So I went to hhgregg and they had Klipsch on sale for $100 less than BB. I've never been sorry for switching. I am using an Onkyo 605, and these speakers are absolute killers! Now for the BIG question. Does Klipsch make a low profile center channel? I am still using a Cambridge Soundworks Center Channel Plus after several years because it fits perfectly into my entertainment center. Any center speaker I buy can only be 4inchs high by up to 39 inches wide. Does Klipsch even make one this size? PS After some online research, I realize that the Synergy Line was introduced to sell in the Big Box stores as entry level, and some of the old time "hornheads" kind of poo poo it. All I can say is that for "entry level" these F-3's sound great to me. Were it not for this line, I would never have been exposed to Klipsch except in magazines. Herb
  6. Hello again, you guys are great![H] Thanks for you input. It sounds like I have found some new friends here. I'll be back later when I can spend more time. I have a bunch of questions to ask, but I have to get up at 3:00 am. Thanks again cu
  7. I was determined to buy a pair of Polk Monitor 70's to go with my new Onkyo TX605 receiver. Read good Reviews about Polk. We have 3 big box stores here, BB,CC & HH Gregg. Occasionally I like to spend a Sat. morning "looking". The guy at BB insisted on demoing this "wonderful " (he said) pair of Klipsches for only $459 each. That was $982 ouch! He didn't understand why I ran out the door! Then, I went to CC fully intending to buy the Polks. I had a 10 percnt coupon. The Polks were on sale for $339 each, but he didn't have any in the store! So, I went across the street to HH Gregg. They just opened this store in march, so they still have "Grand Opening Itis" He said "we don't carry Polk, WE have Klipsch on sale right now" All of his gadgets were working and in about 2 minutes he had this huge pair of Klipsch F-3's playing through the same model Onkyo receiver as mine! They were $355 each. The same F-3's that were $459 at BB. These speakers sound great to me! I have the new "Diehard" movie on Blu-Ray and Bruce Willis made my next door neighbor nervous! This is my very first experience with Klipsch and my questions are: how do they compare with and are they truly better than the Polk Monitor 70? Can some of you "Klipsch" guys Share your Ideas about these F-3's with me? Thanks Herb
