  1. Hey guys, thanks! I just was going to post that me and my buddy listened to 300 and Spiderman 2 & 3 and we both totally thought they both sounded so killer with the fronts set to small! Sounds so amazing I can't even believe it! Although it defaults the RC-64 to small as well. I guess it's all good though. So, my other question is...If you set the crossover on the sub to lower rather than higher does that make the 83's and 64 have a little more bass back to them? I'm working on pics of my setup!
  2. I have some questions, the crossover thing is confusing. Have a Cambridge Soundworks PSW-1A powered sub. Have a brand new model Sony Amp for now, the str-dg820. Did the auto cal with the mic. Seems to be really good, it picked large for the 83's, the RC-64 and my Cambridge rears. It told me to put the sub crossover before calibration to the highest setting which is 140. The other settings are 55, 80 and 100. There is no internal amp setting for the sub crossover. Seems good for BD movies. 300 sounds killer! But I don't get any sub with music unless I set the 83 speaker size to small. I guess I'm asking, is 140 where that crossover should be with the 83's, and the rc64? Does it make sense that I need to turn the 83's to small for music to get the sub to kick in, but I don't have to for BD movies? For movies are you 83 owners setting them to large or small? Thanks for any help in advance.
  3. Hey man......This may be stupid but is your TV set to fixed out for volume?......Have you gone through all of the menu's of your DVD, BD or any other things connectedto make sure they are all set to the proper things they should be?......Are you speakers plugged into the right terminals for each speaker on the back of your amp and is the speaker wire plugged into the postive and negatives on both the amp and speakers? You should be getting booming sound out of your set up. Also, what mode do you have set in your amp? I leave mine on a Cinema mode for cable and movies. If you don't have that mode set, or if it's in stereo or something you will not get your voices coming out of the center for cable.
  4. So far I have.....300, iRobot, Cars, Ratatouille, The Fifth Element, Superbad, The Patriot, Spiderman Trilogy and Batman Begins. I think they all look and sound kickass!...haha.......I mean I even popped in my Star Wars dvds and the PS3 makes them look pretty dam killer. Sometimes I can't even sit, I just stand there in awe of how killer blu-ray looks and sounds. 300 has me standing and in awe. It's grain and contrast are intentional but I think it looks and sounds killer!
  5. Wow, nice find dude! I'm impressed! I was checking out the BDI Icon 9429 tonight at Best Buy. Seems pretty killer too, I first saw it at a Sony Style store. I even called Klipsch earlier today and they had me talk to the tech support people and he was going to talk to marketing and email me if he had a model and maker but I guess I don't need that anymore. So, this model isn't on the actual Bell'o site. I may call them, I mean it surely is the stand in the Klipsch book, and the specs say the top shelf is 8 1/4 usable, so I'm assuming that usable means from the middle shelf glass to the bottom of the cross support beam, and not to the bottom of the glass which would be higher. The RC-64 fits in the pics in the catalog and it says the shelf can hold 75 lbs so it would seem it would fit. I would just HATE to order this thing and find the specs wrong or have it not fit!...lol.....They show the specs on that site and say USABLE area, so I'm thinking it seems right.
  6. Hey guys, thanks for the links. Here is the link to the Reference catalog PDF. The stand I mean is on page 3. http://www.klipsch.com/media/products/literature/RefIV.pdf
  7. Very cool. Will this product also help with shielding my downstairs neighbor from the lows that the sub will produce? I have wood floors.
  8. In the new Reference IV catalog on the first double page spread, what company makes that metal and glass stand that the TV is on? Anyone know?
  9. Hey guys.........Yeh, the speakers are so dam good they totally show how flat and lifeless these itunes tracks are! Totally didn't expect it. CD's sound 3D and blu rays, well forget it!.......SICK! And, I have to say these speakers make my Cambridge Soundworks center sound even better......I think I'm gonna hold off for a bit before I get into the 64, I cancelled my order for now. Although, not sure how long that is gonna last......haha These speakers, blu-rays and my new 52xbr4 have sparked the life back into me with movies. My sub should be repaired and back here very soon and then I'm hooking up my rears and I'm psyched......Gonna give my dad my Salamander component rack and consolidate things to the tv stand so I don't see any wires.
  10. Hey thanks man......I'm waiting for the banana plugs I ordered to come in this week.......So, did these speakers need any type of break in period?.......I'm kinda pissed that my ipod connected up is sound so bad....No matter what bitrate I rip CD's at.....Just tried 320 and they sound flat and lifeless.......Guess I'll just be playing cd's! Anyone else notice this when playing stuff bought from iTunes? That they sound flat and lifeless and that CD's sound 3d and killer? I don't claim to be an audiophile by a long shot, but have never heard these itunes songs sound so bad....lol........This was the last thing I expected to hear with these speakers. Blu-ray movies on the other hand are amazing! I'm gonna ditch the iPod adapter I bought and try an Apple TV and see how that sounds.
  11. I'm still messing around with it all. Put in some movies and right now I just have my Cambridge center stage for the center and no sub since it's getting repaired and haven't set up the rears yet, but dam 300 sounds KILLER with just the center and 83's! Listening to CD's through the PS3 and my Sony amp....CD's sound killer and music so good, with the 83's like they should but dam I bought the iPod connector for the Sony amp and it makes songs sounds so flat and lifeless. Not sure why, iTunes through my Cambridge Soundworks computer sub and satellites blows the 83's away with the iPod in the iPod connector......lol.......That thing is going back for sure!....I'm gonna try apple TV to see if that does any better......It's weird that my iTunes library sounds so good with my computer speakers and headphones but so bad with the digital media port iPod connector....Kind of a bummer but not a big deal since CD's and blu-rays sound so 3D and awesome! Yeh, once I get it all set up I will post up pics! Hey youthman, I noticed in your gallery that you connected to the top set of plugs on the 83's...My manual says to connect to the bottom set. Is there a reason you put them on the top set?
  12. Alright....I'm psyched....Just got back from picking up my 83's!.....And, found out that my glass shelf can handle 80 lbs so I ordered the 64 too!....Gonna go hook these bad boys up!
  13. Hey man...Thanks for the insight......Tilt up, down...Shelf or floor....I just want the dam thing!...hahah....On a totally different note dam, those palladiums are freaking gorgeous huh!......So nice without the speaker grills!!
  14. Well I just noticed in the RC-64 specs that it says "Uptilt and Downtilt feet" so that's cool. Anyone have an opinion of the center being on the bottom of the TV stand, think it would be too low?
  15. So, if I get the 64 and it's too heavy for the glass shelf in my stand, is it going to be a problem to put in on the bottom of the stand? Will the supplied pieces that let you angle it be enough? Anyone else have the center at the bottom of their TV stand?
  16. Just got into a PS3 for Blu-Ray, a 52xbr4 and also at the same time bought the new str-dg820 avr. Hooked it all up and realized a tweeter blew on my 22 year old Cerwin Vega's. So, with a little help and advice from my bro in law and some members here I just bought the RF-83's. Gonna grab the matching 64 center as well. My 820 is rated on the box at 8 ohms, 110watts per channel with .07% thd. Although I guess I need to listen to it all when the speakers come in this week I'm wondering if I should upgrade my Sony while I still have the chance to return it. I know people love the Onkyo's, Denon's and Marantz. Love to hear some input from you guys. The other thing is I live in a condo, 12 foot ceiling and wood floors. Can't totally crank this system like if I was in a house. So I'll be on the lower side of the volume with 5.1 movies and music. I have a powered sub too. So, not sure it will even matter if I move up to a different amp. What do you guys think?
  17. Hey man.....I just got the 52xbr4 and bought the Slam Brands Ariel stand from Circuit City...The shelf is quarter inch thick tempered glass.....I emailed Slam Brands to find out what they say but they haven't gotten back to me yet. Now if that shelf won't hold it and I have to put it on the bottom of the stand, is that bad? I realize the RC-64 lets you angle it up, would that be all I would need to do? Or is sound comprimised that way?
  18. Hell yeh it is.......I was shocked to see the massive size of that thing......I'm just wondering now if the shelf in the stand I just bought can support it.....lol.....I measured and it fits no problem.
  19. Wow, that thing is huge too! Nice pics! I'm officially addicted! Now i HAVE to get the RC-64! And then one day upgrade to the sub and rears! Next week cannot come fast enough! I'll have to post up some pics too.
  20. Hey thanks man. Yeh, now I just need to grab the center! That thing is a monster, saw it today. I'm super psyched! Yeh, saw ur pics...Very sweet!
  21. Well guys, I did it....Bought the RF-83's today in black!.....Very psyched!....They should be in next week.....Now I just need to upgrade my center next!
  22. No, it's not the ensemble. It's the powered sub psw1...Here is a link to old reviews of it..... http://www.audioreview.com/mfr/cambridge-soundworks/subwoofers/powered-subwoofer/PRD_119260_2741crx.aspx#review0
  23. Oh yah, so they say the RC-7 over the RC-64? How much is the 7 there is no pricing on the Klipsch site.
  24. Ha.....I'm going to make it my budget!....I don't think I can get the 63's now....lmao.......What do you mean by a solid sub?.....The cambridge I have is about 8 years old and has a 12 inch woofer....it weighs in at over 50lbs!...Seems to be able to handle any 5.1 low bass that get's thrown at it...Or do you mean it's a mismatch to the speakers. Here is a link to old reviews of it... http://www.audioreview.com/mfr/cambridge-soundworks/subwoofers/powered-subwoofer/PRD_119260_2741crx.aspx#review0
  25. Hey man, thanks! My room is 17x23. 17 from the fronts to the surrounds. That's what I figured...lol......I mean the 63's sound killer and how could the 83's not sound better? My place has wood floors and 12 foot ceilings. What impact does that have if any? I guess I just didn't plan on this purchase, just this week I got a new 52xbr4...sony str-dg820 avr and a PS3 for blu--rays. Now a tweeter on my 22 year old cerwin vegas blew out and no one has a replacement...lol.......I guess 22 years is a stretch though! Those things have 15 inch woofers! I'd love to go with the matching centers and surrounds but for now everything else is from Cambridge Soundworks...Center is the center stage, and the PSW1 powered sub and cambridge rears. No probs with mixing and matching like that is there?
