  1. Hej, I am now a very happy owner of an A318B!! I have circa 1977 Hereseys. I have replaced the caps and dropped the taps on the tweeter and sqwaker, which has tamed the high end somewhat, per recommendations in the forums.

I now want to experiment with tube rolling. I was advised that the rolling the 6sn7 tubes will have a much greater impact compared with the 6sl7 tubes, so I've been focusing on options for the 6sn7. Is this not correct?

    Thanks.

  2. Bob, I replaced my caps in the E crossovers with the Daytons, and after a couple weeks they are really sounding good. My wife still complains a little as the speakers are a little on the bright side. Do you offer a crossover that takes some of the edge off? I'm interested in making further improvements if that can be done. Thanks.

  3. Thank you very much for your reviews. I have a pair of Heresy I's and have been on the hunt for the "right" integrated tube amp. I've posted elsewhere on this forum and received some feedback. I recently discovered the Almarro A318B and am now inclined towards it. Your reviews as well as the 6moons review may have finally convinced me to take the plunge.

  4. I am considering upgrading from my old SS integrated amp. I am looking in the $1000 range. Red Wine Audio's Signature 30.2 and Bel Canto's S300 are out of my range. At present I have narrowed my focus to the following: NuForce IA-7, Prima Luna Prologue, and Cayin 50T. I would appreciate hearing any opinions on these integrated amps and any suggestions for other amps I should consider. Thanks.

  5. Thanks, skywave rider, that is helpful. I am hoping to begin this project this weekend, opening up my 1976 Heresys for the first time.

I noticed you have a Trends amp. I live near Audio-magus and have listened to and been very impressed by the sound of those T amps. I also listened to the Glow Amp one, also very nice. Just last week I received a Nuforce Icon, $200. Really very nice. My old amp is a Denon PMA 850 (c 1979) integrated amp, which I recently had refurbished, made a big difference, sounds solid state, but I expect it will warm up as is it burns in some.

  6. I am the original owner of a pair of Heresy I's. I purchased them in 1976, and I am just rediscovering the pleasure of listening to them. I am making plans to replace the binding posts, and am now figuring that while I have the backs opened (that will be a first), I should probably replace the caps. So, I am anticipating needing two 2.0 uf caps and one 33 uf cap for each speaker. Right now I am thinking of placing an order with Parts Express for:

2 pairs of Dayton binding posts, BPT-38G

    4 Dayton PMPC 2.0 caps

    2 Jantzen 33.0 caps

From what I'm reading here, it is probably wise for me to wait to place my order until after I've opened my Heresy's and see exactly what my crossover looks like.

    Any advice appreciated.
