  1. I think you made the right choice Coytee! No problem at all! Again, thanks for taking the time out of your life to keep these records spinning!

Also, I assume your name and address will be on the return address portion of the box? So I know who and where to send the check!

  2. And what a great album that is! I have always wondered if the sound quality is less, because of the "picture"?

I had one Picture LP, but I gave it to a friend with a big Disney Collection and a couple of Disney picture LPs. It was a Care Bear's (childrens) album that I had no use for. I aquired it in a large collection.

  3. The worst thing is that I reckon I've become somewhat of a hi-fi snob now.

Having some expertise or having a high standard doesn't mean you are a snob. No sense in degrading yourself. It's seems particularly American these days to totally resent expertise, competence, accuity, knowledge or high standards as forms of "elitism" or "snobbery." As though, only the mundane, the boring, the regular, the everyday and average have any social value. It's a disease, and it's best if you don't catch it. The lowering of knowledge and standards to some low common denominator is actually a new phenomena in this country and the results of it are as ugly as you would expect.

Snobbery defines how you would PROJECT your tastes or standards, not that you have them. You can have very high standards, tons of expertise, knowwledge and wisdom, and be humble too. Don't buy into the game of calling it all snobbery and eltiism. Rather, welcome the idea that you have some specialized capabilities, or expectations!

    Very Well Said! [Y]

  5. the wife is taking the kids for a swim and then on to a 'tupperware party'. I'll be home late tonight dear she says. I will have the house to myself, have pizza, Makers Mark and time. I wish my Peach was back but guess I'll plug the ol Jolida into the Mc, scratch where it itches and be somebody!

Sounds like the makings for a great afternoon! What will you be listening to?

BTW, it is about 72 degrees here in Sunny California! Strange for the end of January, but very Nice! [H]

  6. I saw the "other" amazon.com thread, where the guy was trying to retire with the sale of one XRCD.

Here is a Amazon.com Store where you won't get burned: BIG VALLEY MEDIA

I "met" this seller when he had some music listed on my local Craigslist for sale. Turns out he lives a few blocks away from me. He is a Music Collector and is one of the most honest people I have ever done business with and very knowledgeable about what he does. As others have said, when a business is good, we like to tell our friends. Well, I have bought many CD's and LP's off of Richard and I could not be happier. If he says it is in "new/mint" condition, it is! He actually deducted $'s off of a CD because the "Book" had a small "dent" in it! [:o] You don't find honesty like that everyday!

I just wanted to mention this "Honest Seller" who has some rare and great music for sale. I in no way get a commission or benefit in anyway from his sales. I did tell him I was going to mention his store on this forum. So, if you want to mention "Dennie sent me or you heard about him on the Klipsch forum", that would be fine. Hey, maybe we can get a "Klipsch Forum Discount". He is bringing some music over for me to buy on Wednesday, I will have to mention that! [;)]

  7. Great Topic Steve!

Listening! I sometimes forget that’s the goal! Duhoooo!!!!

Years ago, someone posted this on one of the HT forums I

    belong to:

Audiophile: One who listens to the stereo rather than the music.

    That has stuck with

me over the years. Sometimes we get so

wrapped up into the “gear” we forget to listen to the Music. Don’t get me wrong, I still get wrapped up in

the gear and now I allow time for that.

But when it is time to enjoy the music, I just forget all about the

    gear. But it takes practice!

    My “best” listening

happens when I am alone, like Greg said, “The door is shut, and if it

had a lock, I'd lock it”. Well, I live

alone so I don’t need a lock or a door for that matter. I just

turn out all the lights, get a tasty beverage and sit in “my” chair and get

lost in the music, sometime for a few minutes, on a good day/evening I can get

lost for hours. I do this 5, sometimes 6

nights a week right before bed. A great

    way to relax before bedtime.

It is best when I can turn my brain off completely. I still find myself analyzing the

soundstage, then wondering if I need to move the right speaker a little, or

change amps and so on, then realize I am not LISTENING to the music

    anymore.

Changing genres for me, helps a lot. For most of my life, I mostly listened to the

same genre, rock, maybe a little country thrown in for a change. Now, that I am older and appreciate different

genres, it is a great way for me to remember to “listen”.

    For example, I have

only listened to Jazz for a couple of years now and I tend to want to just

listen, hear something I have never heard before.

Take Miles Davis for example, I just acquired my first Miles

Davis CD this week, “Kind of Blue”. I

have never owned any "Miles" before. (Hey,

better late than never) I have put

it in the player a couple of times for background music, usually when company

is over. In the next day or two, it will

be the one I listen too with the lights out, before bed.

Putting something in the player I am unfamiliar with is one

of the best ways for my brain to shut off.

The first time I put Roberta Flack’s “first take” album on the turntable,

I was in a listening mood and the lights were out, I just fell in love with

it. I knew very little of her and had no

expectations. Now I have 4 of her albums

    in regular rotation.

The volume has to be up enough to create the “Soundstage”. Usually 70db to 80db is ideal. Depending on the artist it can get to the ear

bleeding levels! I listened to Ted

Nugent a while back and the dog disappeared out the dog door, faster than a

speeding bullet! LOL But that is not the norm!

    It's all about the music!

  8. I'm trying to build up a larger music library, and I'm interested on what you guys listen to and think is awesome.

P.S. You're welcome to post multiple albums/artists Wink The more the better Big Smile

Hey Nuggits, Welcome! Good to have you here. Is it finally thawing out up there in Oregon? I'm in Sacramento and we could sure use a little of that wet stuff down here. You guys sure have been "hit" this year. I hope your above the water line.

As far as my favorite albums, just take a look at the "Right This Minute" thread and you'll see what a lot of us are listening to. I have this one in the player right now and I just love it:

  9. Would your name at the HiFi and General Chat Forum happen to be "Trouble", or should I call you Bob.

My apologies guys. I think I set this fool off by posting the "Max Is Banned" thread. Moslty idiots and potty personalities over there, with one or two exceptions. The place had promise when it started but it's since degenerated badly.

Thebes I think you are wrongly trashing another forum.

Thebes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do we need to make you go sit in the corner!!!![:@]

  10. Note to single men out there: It is best to acquire your Heritage BEFORE you get married/engaged/or are just hangin' out. That way she understands that the Heritage are part of the package. Now it's too late for winchester at this point (let's hope the damage isn't too severe or lasting), but the forum and it's posters always provide opportunity to show others how best to solve these problems before they occur, to which this example is no exception.

This is some of the most useful information! Thanks for the reminder Audible!

I purchased a KEF speakers system for my HT. They are some beautiful Speakers and I have no regrets. The Girlfriend (at the time) and I love them. A year later, I got rid of the GF and found my first pair of Klipsch Heritage Speakers. When I find a "new" GF, she will understand the La Scalas were here before she was!!! [:o] If she has a problem with that......the La Scalas will be here after she leaves! [:P]

Congratulations on the new Heritage speakers and the Mac Gear! A Fine combination!
