One more question, I mostly notice the harsh sound when play music loud. Is this a sign of my Marantz Mono amps caving in? .

)]The "harshness" could be caused by your room. The louder you play it, the more the room comes into play.
Have you played with speaker placement, when playing loud? Or tried covering bare flooring, tables, walls with a blanket or something, trying to calm reflections?
The room is a major component on any stereo system.

)]I don't know if "Bi-amping" will help much. I find that room placement has the biggest effect on the sound. What's your room like? Do you have the Epic's against the wall? Are they "toed" in towards the listening position? Do you have any room treatments like diffusers or absorbers on the wall, ceiling, etc?
What year were your speakers made? Have you updated or replaced the capacitors? Older dried up capacitors can really have an effect on the sound.
Tell us as much as you can about your set up and we'll try to help you get the best sound that you can.

Thank you all for the input. Does anyone know the price of the outlaw? Also if I go integraded, would you recommend running the entire speaker set from it or run a portion with the reciever? If thats the way it alao works?
Outlaws website says it's on sale for $629 until Dec. 30th.
If you go with an integrated, YES you would run both speakers from the integrated. You mentioned "entire speaker set"? Are you running more than 2 speakers? Is this part of a Home Theater?

My AVR has a pre out, I bought it for that !
However as t he Klipsch speaker are "high rendement" I saw that only few watts was enought in order to drives the speakers at a low level, like only 2 or 5 watts is deliver / use per channeel.
You're right, horns are very efficient. But the RF-82II likes a little more power to sound their best.

As you can see, they can handle up to 600 watts peak, so using and receiver or AVR with 25 - 50 wpc is really under-powering them. If you've got a friend or a stereo shop near by that will let you borrow or "Demo" a 200wpc amp, I think you'd notice the difference right off. The bass and mids will really shine and fill out the room. There is a huge difference between a 200 watt amp that is barely breaking a sweat, over a 50 watt amp that is maxed out. [

Wow, sorry for you loss, but it's good to have you back.
Is there any way you can fit "Heritage" speakers in your room? I think you'll be much happier with the "known" Heritage sound that you loved, over the Reference series. Not that the Reference series is bad, it is just different.

It's always important to keep the wife happy, but I'll hand it to you for not getting rid of the Fortes. You'll love them on the 3 season porch!
I've never compared the "82's" with Fortes, but I think you'll be fine.
