  1. I'd bring a furniture pad (the ones movers use) to go underneath them. You can rent them at U-haul if you don't have any. I'd also cover them with the same and strap/tie them down well.

Congratulations on the new Khorns! [Y]

  2. I was just informed by my friend that the 970 I sold him is having issues. He states that the player will freeze up during scene changes and occassionally at other times while playing a dvd. I have never used this unit for dvds. I always used it for two channel cds.

At one point several months ago I let a friend check it out in a home theater application and he raved about how well it performed playing movies. This particular friend stated that it worked flawlessly for him.

Any thoughts on what might be going on with it? Is it just getting old and worn out? Could it be a simple fix? Anyone have similar problems?

    Any help will be appreciated.

    Thanks, Tom

    Hey Tom,

I have the 970 and use it for Music and Movies. I have never had any issue's with it.

Most electronics can be "reset". Usually you hold the power button in for ten seconds or something like that. If he or you have the manual, find out how to reset it to factory settings and see if that gets rid of the problem. Let me know if you need me to dig out my manual. Remember, after it is reset, you'll have to go through all of the set-up menu's again. But it may take care of the problem.

    I hope this helps,

  4. Hey Rich,

First, let me say I am not very knowledgeable when it comes to TT set up. But a couple of things come to mind.

Did you check alignment, tone arm weight, etc.?

Are you sure the wires are correct and not broken anywhere?

    Did you change anything else?

I know I am probably going over the obvious, but it is the obvious that can mess me up sometimes.

  5. I picked this one up yesterday. I think I paid $7 or $8 for it. I bought a few albums, but this was the only picture disc. I don't intend on playing it, but I've always had "a thing" for Linda, so it was a no-brainer! Same picture on both side, "side one" and "side two" printed at the bottom of the pictures.

  6. does anyone have any opinions on leaving the adcom running 24/7 i have it an a rack and i rigged some pc fans and it keeps it very cool

thanks guy for all the help

I've had a 555 in and out of my rack a few times. It is a very good amp with lots of headroom. I loaned it to a friend and now he won't give it back. LOL I think he is going to buy it off me. I am currently using a Adcom GFA 7607 (125wpc x's 7) in my HT rig. It has been on since the day I bought it new. I think that was 2004 or 05. Never an issue.

In the winter, I do run a fan on it, as the heater vent is not far from my rack. But in the summer, it is not a problem as the AC keeps everything pretty cool.

Kudo's for having a wife that buys you an amp! [Y][<:o)]

  7. Thanks for the quick reply!

I'm wanting to pay a visit to a local dealer soon to get a better idea, as well as see what kind of deals I can get (I picked up the RW-10d for 420 befre taxes there). I'm just worried about their judgement, as they seem to want to just sell what they can at times. So for the past three or four weeks, I've been learning everything under the sun about speakers, placement, size, height, sound and so on.

I was also wondering about going for something better, as you said, maybe the RF-82's, I'm just wondering how these will preform with my RC-10 (One I do kind of regret, but it's worked great for the last year or so or a $120 buy) and if so, what I should look into there. I've looked at the RC-64, but I really don't like the idea of spending a grand on a center channel (Though I do know it's where the majority of voice comes from). I'm just torn on which way to go.

I'm just wondering how everything will sound togather, as I have an odd setup. I tend to put way to much thought into simple things!

    Hey Deathrend,

Don't worry about their judgment, it is only your judgment that matters. Listen, Listen, Listen! Go listen to as many speakers as you can. Take music that you know very well and go listen. Take notes. Listen to speakers that are over your budget, under your budget and within your budget. Get an idea of whats out there and what sounds good to you.

Don't worry about matching your center channel right now. You can always run a phantom (tell the AVR no center speaker and it will split the signal to the left and right speakers) center until you can find a matching one for your (soon to have) mains.

Don't "over think" this. It is about quality sound. Close your eyes and listen to the music. If a speaker can do music "right" it can do HT right also.

.....and by all means, have fun!

  8. Hey Deathrend, welcome to the forum!

I have not listened to any of those speakers you mentioned, but I have to tell you that the mains are the most important speakers for HT and 2 Channel listening.

So, my advise to you is get the best speakers you can afford. You will not be sorry. Even if you need to save up a little longer, it will be the best investment you can make. If you "settle" now on speakers, you will just want to upgrade again in the near future.

We're glad you're here and we hope you keep us posted on your speaker search.

  9. How does it sound?

    $20.00 ? you stole it.Stick out tongue

Google it to find out information about it. Is this it?

That's it! Yeah, I thought $20 was a steal! I did google it, but I was wondering if anyone here had experience with it?

I am making room in the rack for it now.

    Thanks,

    Dennie

  10. Well, I did it. I stopped at a yard sale today and there it was just sitting there with no price on it.

I asked the Lady how much for the "old radio"?

She said what'll you give me for it?

    I said $20!

She said SOLD! Then went on to tell me it was her Dads and she was pretty sure he bought it new. It still has the schematic on the bottom of the wooden cabinet, in the original envelope.

So, what do I have? Is it any good?

I opened it up and it looks brand new inside. It does have the Pre-out and Main in, so I can still use my Audio Control C 101 III Eq for room correction.

I am just wondering if it is worth hooking it up and giving it a listen. I have to say, I don't think my 10 gauge speaker wire is going to fit into the spring loaded speaker jacks, I might have to switch to 14 gauge speaker wire.

Thanks in advance for any advise, help, comments.
