I bought some rubber feet at Ace for the legs of the table and cut some raquet balls in half. The tt is now sitting on the half balls. Walking by it I can walk normal and not hear any rumbling or skipping. So I guess problem solved for now.
And yes Dennie, I will be hanging up my ballet shoes for the time being.
That was going to be my next question!!! LOL Good to hear Rich!

Hey Mike,
Watts are Watts! So, you should be Okay! Tube watts and SS watts are all watts, so if you run a tube amp rated at 30 wpc, you should get similar results to the HK amp. .

Bump!
Welcome Niklos from France. I'm not familiar with the amps you are talking about, but hopefully someone who is more knowledgeable about these amps will be along to help soon.
Good to have you here,

Congratulations on the K-horns and the move to high end sound. Try putting the sub in your listening postion and move around the room and find where the bass sounds the best, put your sub there. You should be getting decent bass with the sub and the K-horns.

thanks for the reply neighbor! appreciate the heads up..This guy lives in Elk Grove, he seems very flexible as far as me doing a through inspection on the unit..He might even bring it over and let me hook it up...Wont budge off of 350 though. Its hard to find quality audio in sacramento..San jose San fran no problem..but this city is all best buy groupies.
You welcome Neighbor! Sounds like he might be one of us and you may get a fine piece of gear. $350 is a fair price IMHO, if its in the shape he says its in. The picture looks good.
Every now and then, something really nice pops up on Craigslist. I have found some good deals and with the way the economy is, more and more are popping up, but they usually don't last long. But those are far and few between.
Good luck on the Marantz and let us know if you get it and what you think about it.

... I am interested only in accuracy, and I have heard CD/SACD/DVD-A players in the sub-200.00 category that are, to my (possibly deaf) ears completely accurated on the most rigourous of tests, stuff I recorded myself. ...
Something like that might make sense since the Blu Ray player will not play SACD or DVD-A. What brand is that player?
Are you talking to Dave or me? Really dosen't matter, as I know Dave will agree that this is a fine CD player Plus! It is an OPPO. It is a internet only company, so you'll have to order it online. I know many people that have them and are thrilled with the player and the company. They are coming out with a Blu-Ray Player, but it keeps getting pushed back.

Ahhhggggggg! What I would give for two corners!!! [8o|] Nice find Phil and thanks to Michael for demanding a "story"! LOL
I am so jealous! Well, I have La Scala's, so I am not THAT jealous, but still a little jealous!
I bet your son's Ipod just made your first listening session that much better. Thanks for sharing the story.

Welcome Fastlayne, good to have you here. You sound like you want to buy something, so here you go. Get one of these and you will not be sorry. They play CD/DVD-A/SACD/MP3 and more. I have the 970 and love it. It is a great "universal" player and it gets very good ratiings. CD's sound great!

Looks like a Good deal on a Very Nice Integrated amp! I say go for it. But see if he'll take $300 for it. Do watch out for a guy who lives near I-5 and Florin Rd., he listed a Rotel integrated amp for $150 (I think) so I contacted him and he got really weird, so I backed out of the deal. His price was fluctuating and then he didn't know when he would be home. Then wanted to meet in the north area and changed his mind and.............I got far away from that deal.

Oh, and shure recommends 1/2 gram of weight if you use the brush. Here's a picture of my Elac TT with the brush on.....
Dennie
-
My Elac Miracord TT came with one on it. Since I replaced the cartridge with the Shure, I have removed it. The shure has one built in. Shure calls it a "anti-static" brush, but I still have static! So I got a carbon fiber brush from Music Direct.
This has taken care of the Static problem.......

The last time I saw a jog wheel was on a VCR. I will keep my eyes open for a CD player with a jog wheel, but it may be hard to find.

That was very cool!

Another amp which I could get is the Onkyo A 9755. I will have to buy the amp first and then if I don't like it I could send it bac. So I am looking for advise... Does anybody know the Onkyo or the Harman?
Cheers
MojoHey Mojo, where are you located? That Onkyo comes up with European prices? Are you in the UK?
Dennie
-
Hey Mojo, Did you notice this: Power supply: AC 230V, 50 Hz
That is for the HK970 from the HK website.

Thanks Phillip! I don't listen to internet radio much, but if I do, I will know where to go!

Well, I can't speak to the XLR connectors to the amp. But it will be fine with the RCA jacks going to an empty input on the reciever. You won't hurt your speakers. Remember, turn the volume on the Ipod up and control it with the recievers volume control.
Let us know if you have any problems.

What about the varying watts that these things can put out? My amp puts out 250 and my receiver only does 75 watts-- does this matter?
I'm going to be using these speakers near full volume a lot because that's just how I play my music, and I want to make sure that I'm not pushing too much through them. Is it going to distort the audio more by having the amp up all the way and the receiver in the middle or is it going to hurt it more by having the reciever on full and the amp on a lower setting? Which gives better audio quality?
Also-- I have the audio coming out of the receiver from the headphone jack in the front-- is there a better way to do this?
Thanks for your help.
The Ipod puts out low voltage. But lets look at your system.
You're running a receiver and an amp? Where are your speaker wires connected?
Tell me what your components are. I know you have an onkyo reciever. What else do you have and how is it connected?

I have a pair of F3s and Marathon DJ-2000. I am really quite lost on how to get the two to cooperate. I about an XLR to standard stereo connector so that I could plug my ipod into the amp directly, but I'm not sure if this is the right thing to do. Should I music through a mixer or a receiver first? I have an Onkyo TX-SR502 that I could run the audio through, but I don't know how.
I don't want to damage the speakers, but I know they can put out more than I can get out of them with this setup. I keep getting a distorted signal from my amp, even when I know I've heard the speakers go louder when I rented a QSC amp for a party and used the same speakers.
Thanks for any help I can get on this!
If you get a 1/4" mini jack (Stereo) to RCA connector(stereo) cable, you can run it through the preamp/Onyko receiver. Just use an empty input, like Aux,CD etc. This way you can use your onyko for the volume, processing, balance etc.
See the "Ipod to preamp" thread in this section.
I purchased a 20' - 1/4" to RCA's for my Ipod. I plug it into the headphone jack and the back of my processor. This way I sit in my favorite chair and use my Ipod. I run the cable along the wall and it comes out at the end table next to my chair.
Oh and Welcome to the forum, we are glad you are here.
Let me know if this helps,
Dennie

Sorry Nate, this thread went right past me! The "lube" should come with a little tube, like WD-40. You should be able to pull the knob off and spray it into the volume/balance control while twisting the control.
I am sure there are people who can better answer this question, but..........they must be busy!
I hope this helps,

Now I have to wonder if all my fuses are facing the right direction!
Dennie
Don't electrons flow negative to positive? Which way do you point the arrows?
I suggest calling the manufacturer of yoru amp. It will give them something to talk about.
I think your right! I had better call and see! This audiophile stuff gets more confusing with every post!
Jim, Hurry up with production of the "No Fuse Fuse", before Adcom wants their amp back! [*-)]

Fuses are for Wimps! I took all mine out. Man, talk about a low noise floor... I don't hear a thing.
LOL Jim, I wonder how much we can sell you No Fuse, Fuse for? Lots I bet!

Now I have to wonder if all my fuses are facing the right direction!
Dennie
So apparently you cannot tell by ear? Some kind of audiophile you are.
Of course, since my Monoblocks run off a dedicated 400A, 3 phase supply I'm calling the company to get pricing on the big ones.
Ashamed as I am that I had not taken this into account, I did check and YES! They are all facing the RIGHT direction!
Or should the Left one be facing Left? This Audiophile stuff is complicated!!! [:S]
