  1. If those are the choices ; 1. Pioneer or 2. Yammie 463 ................ don't even consider the others, you won't be happy ............ Oh yeah, buy the Z Z Top Live in Texas DVD .......... and let it rip !!!!!!!! I see they have an HK and Marantz that fit that price range ............ those are good too....... some of those choices are free shipping ..... Marantz would be my choice if they had a 5.1 instead of the 7.1 systems.
  2. I already own a Denon 484 5.1 surroud sound, but it has always had problems with the amp. Sometimes (very few) it sounds great and I would be happy with it, but most of the time the volumes goes up and down (mainly down) on its own. It works OK for everyday listening, but when it's time too jam, it just doesn't work well. My brother gave it to me brand new along with some small monitor speakers, he had it for a few months before sending it to me. Then I had it for a couple of months before setting it all up. It was on sale when he bought it so the warrenty was out before I even knew it had problems. Now I don't want to end up spending more on S&H plus repair cost to have it fixed, maybe you guys could give me a rough estimate on what it might cost. If I was able to use cash my brother could buy one for me at wholesale price, where he buys his Alarm equipment. He bought 4 like mine last time for friends & family, just my luck mine was the only one with problems. I had him check the price on a Denon that puts out 100 watts per channel his cost was $600 which is out of my cash price range. The 484 he gave me was only $150 4 years ago was hoping he could find another good deal like that, but not right now. I may be better off for now waiting on buying a new receiver, like someone replied it's better to go ahead and buy what you want than to bargain hunt only to upgrade later. With that in mind, could you tell me which is the better speakers; the RB-81 or RC-35? I know the RC-35 is a center channel but not knowing anything about audio I guess a speaker is a speaker (don't jump on a rookie). When I heard a Klipsch speaker a few months ago I fell in love with them. I had went to Best Buy to check on the Bose 301's but they sounded like crap (my cheap speakers were better) so the sale person switched over to the Klipsch B-3 with a Yamaha 991 receiver (I think) and they were perfect at half volume but once you turned it past half way up the detortion was terrible. I heard the B-3 are about the same as RB-51, so my thinking was the RB-61's might handle what I am looking for, but the RB-81's should handle all the power I want or could afford. Afierreading your replies I know that I will have to spend more on a good reciever now. I have $1,500 that I may spend at Onecall.com and may have another $200 next month to add to that. I play a little poker online and win enough points to trade for a $200 gift card every couple of months or so. I was just trying to go cheap on a receiver and spend more on speakers, of course they have to be Klipsch. BTW, this is a great website and thanks for all your replies. If any of you guys & girls are Razorback fans or any other college sports fan drop by RazorbackTalk.com where I am one of the administrator's, tell'em P'cola Hog invited you.
  3. Unlike other posters I only have one option of where to buy all my recivers and speakers, I have gift certificates to OneCall.com (online store). I am probably going about this the wrong way b/c I am trying to spend as little as possible on a receiver and still have the best sound from which ever Klipsch speakers I buy. I want the RB-81's as front speakers but may end up buying the RB-61's b/c of the price. The price of the receiver will help decide which speakers I buy. They have a Pioneer VSX918V Receiver 5.1-channel Surround Receiver for $349 that puts out 120 watts per channel, but will it deliver a quality sound well enough to hear all the Hi-Low's you should have with Klipsch speakers? If so, how loud can you crank it up before distortion becomes a problem? How can you tell when a receivers distortions levels start? Any certain levels to look for or stay away from? These are my main concerns. I have a closed in single car garage where this system will be and at times I would like to crank it up (sorry neighbors) and I want it to be like I'm sitting front row at a ZZ Top concert (loud & clear) [] OneCall does have a few more receivers for that price and under this week. Here's a list of my the choses I have from them. Pioneer VSX918V Receiver 5.1-channel Surround Receiver $349 Sony STR-DG520 Receiver 5.1-channel Home Theater Receiver $199 Yamaha RXV-363 Receive5.1 Channel Digital Home Theater Receiver $199 Yamaha RXV-463 Receiver 5.1 Channel Digital Home Theater Reciever $299 Really, I would like a receiver to only have front L,R and a center channel, but I guess thats not an optoin. Is it?
