  1. I upgraded the speaker wire on my ProMedias to 14 gauge (and soldering the rca connector onto one end was NOT fun). But now I find the 14 gauge wire is too big for the tiny, spring-loaded speaker terminals on the back of the GMX 2.1 sub-woofer...and the connection is just cheesy. Has anyone replaced the cheap speaker wire terminal with a better one that uses higher-quality connections, like the banana plug? If so, where did you find the right size terminal and was the upgrade difficult? Dan
  2. I recently bought a used GMX A-2.1 system for use with my iPod in the kitchen. I want to upgrade the speaker cable, but the stock wire has an single RCA connector on one end (that plugs into the satellite speakers) and two bare wires on the other end. It appears any new cables need a single RCA connector on one end and pin connectors on the other. Anyone have any idea where to get something like this? Or am I looking at the connectors wrong?
  3. I recently bought a used GMX A-2.1 system for use with my iPod in the kitchen. I’ve got the crackling problem I’ve seen posted elsewhere, and plan to clean the pre-amp controller POTs. But I have another issue. The left channel seems considerably softer than the right channel. Not dead altogether but definitely softer. It's not the speakers...I switched them and had the same problem. At low volumes, the output from the left channel seems non-existent. Does anyone have a fix for this?
  4. I recently bought a used GMX A-2.1 system for use with my iPod in the kitchen. (I have a “real” system in the living room with a digital Panny receiver/amp and a pair of classic Klipsch KG 4.2s that I bought in 1992--that’s too far from the kitchen to listen to anything but the bass…but also the reason Klipsch was my only choice when I needed speakers in the kitchen.) Anyway, I’ve got the crackling problem I’ve seen posted elsewhere, and plan to clean the pre-amp controller POTs. But I have two other issues: 1. The left channel seems considerably softer than the right channel. At low volumes, the output from the left satellite speaker seems non-existent. Does anyone have a fix for this? 2. Also, if I replace the stock speaker cables, it appears I need a single RCA connector on one end and pin connectors on the other. Anyone have any idea where to get something like this? Or am I looking at the connectors wrong? Please help! Thanks. Dan
