  1. The manual shows biwiring but can you biamp these? If not can the xover be modified to biamp?
  2. I have done some rethinking on this matter and have decided to change up a little and make two systems. The first system will be the recording system. It doesnt need some outstanding set of speakers as all it will do is just record from Tape (RTR or Cassette) and Phono to Computer. This system will be the following. Pioneer SA-9500II 80w/ch 8ohm or 100w/ch 4ohm Pioneer TX-8500II Tuner Pioneer SG-9800 Graphic Eq Pioneer RG-1 Range Expander Pioneer CF-F1000 Cassette Pioneer RT-909 10.5" Reel Pioneer PL-540 TT Stanton 681A Pioneer PL-560 TT Stanton 681EE DBX 400 Input selector DBX 224 Range expander noise reduction Twin SAE 5000 Noise reduction (pop & Click removal) AMD 4800+ X2 with ESI Juli 24bit 192KHz ADC/DAC, Twin CD/DVD Recorders Infinity Qe 4ohm 2 way 2 speaker 100w speakers For playback/editing is where I need the preamp and would go as high as 600.00 but only need one tape loop and no phono or 1 phono but no tuner. This system will be the following. ??? Preamp Twin Carver M400 Power Amps 200w each setup to biamp speakers Pioneer PDR-609 CD Recorder Sony MDS-JB920 MiniDisc Recorder DBX 400XG Input Selector DBX 228 Range Expander Noise Reduction Klipsch RB-81 2 Speaker 2 way speakers Klipsch RSW-10d 10" Sub AMD 6400+ X2 with ESI Juli 24bit 192KHz ADC/DAC, Twin CD/DVD Recorders The DBX 400s give me three tape loops and only using one tape loop on the pre. I can dub from one to another I can also record to all three. I do have an old Sony STR-AV970 reciever that I could use as the pre for now untill I can find a good pre that would match the Carver amps.
  3. There is a couple of them on Ebay. The Spec 1 is almost the same thing as the SA-9500I. I'm actually looking for something not Pioneer. Maybe a Carver C4000 or C1 preamp. I was looking at the Phase Linear but dont care for the 4 channel joy stick thing in the middle of the unit.
  4. Under 275 tough? Well maybe I should up it to say 500.00. I listen to ROCK ! Stuff like Black Sabath, Rush, Talking Heads, Ramones, The Kinks. Im recording to computer (digital) and then to CD. I am looking for very good sound to make accurate digital repoduction of the LPs. I just got a very nice sound (ESI Juli) only 2ch in and 2ch out. It is a 24bit 192KHz card with RCAs in and out.
  5. I am currently using the preamp stage of my Pioneer SA-9500II Integrated amp to power a set of Carver M400 amps connected to a pair of RB-81s. Im wondering if using a dedicated preamp would make my system sound even better. What would you suggest for a preamp with the following specs. Two phono inputs Two tape inputs No tuner Silver faced preferred but not necessary Tube is ok but not my first choice as I dont need another heater in this small room. It gets warm enough with the computers. Under 275.00
  6. Sound Forge 9 does support 192 KHz rates but I am using Sound Forge Audio Studio which only supports up to 96KHz. Maybe Sound Forge 9 is the way to go seeing how I already know how to use the Audio Studio version. I found the Juli for 132.00 so looks like this card is in my near future as well as a copy of SF9. One thing that does interest me though is that he ESI card is supported by Linux. I would love to start recording using Linux again. I was using Audor under Ubuntu but it is limited to 96Khz so I need another open source application that does 192. I changed to Microsnot because the Creative Audigy 2 platinum pro is not a well supported card under Ubuntu or Linux for that matter. The on board sound card on this motherboard only does 48KHz so I upgraded to the Audigy and it didnt play nice with Audor. So back to M$ and Sound Forge.
  7. In search of a sound card that is inexpensive. Must have 2 analog inputs that have a sample rate at 24 bit and 192KHz. Same for output. I saw this one for 149.00 http://www.esi-audio.com/products/julia/ Im also looking for the best audio recording software for recording to computer from LP that does 24 bit and 192KHz sampling. I am currently using Sound Forge but it only goes to 96KHz. Im looking at Cakewalk but would to see if I may have skipped something better. Im only doing two channels so anything more is a waste.
  8. Thanks guys. Cant wait to hear them when I get the cables built so I can bi-amp them. Im heading out to go fishin Sat on the Delta. IM pre fishing for the Hook Tournament thats on the 4th of next month. Its suppose to be hotter than heck on Sat too. Something like 103 on the water. One thing about fishing in the heat. One extra step off the side of a bass boat and your cooled off.
  9. As some of you know I was searching to listen to some RB-81 bookshelf speakers. Finally after sending an email to Klipsch customer service they got back to me with three dealers here in the bay area. Thanks Klipsch I called Digital City in Santa Clara and asked if they had a showroom and also if they had the RB-81s setup to audition and they did. I ran over there and had me a sit down listen using one of my recorded cd's. The rb-81s rock. They project the mids very well and wernt harsh on the highs. They were just a little low on the bass so we added a sub and they sounded perfect. I am now officially part of the Klipsch family with the purchase of not only a pair of RB-81s but also a RSW-10d sub. Now I have to build me another set of speaker cables so I can bi-amp these babies with my pair of Carvers[H]
  10. Could someone point me in the right direction to some good reputable online shops that sell LPs. I'm getting tired of the ebay sellers that claim the LP is M or NM when in actuality there more like G and VG.
  11. I can tone down the power on these amps and use them to Bi Amp these speakers seeing how Klipsch referance speakers have that capability. Running the Carvers full range is 200watts@8 ohms instead of the bridged 500 watts. I'll bet those RBs will sound hella nice bi amped
  12. I sent ya a PM.The one thing is I have no idea what the RB-75s or the 81s sound like. I am just going by there smaller brother the RB-10 and also by the XB-10. Both were fantastic. I do know that I will be picking up a RW-12d I really liked that sub.
  13. Yep tried the dealer locator. Like I said in my post there all HT setup folks. No showroom. Got pics of the 75's? whats the specs fopr the 75? Heres a pic of the Carvers
  14. NFG Here. Well someone needs to be thew NFG . I have a dilemma. I am in search of a good bookshelf speaker for my 2 ch rig. I am seriously looking at the Klipsch RB-81's but cant seem to find somewhere to hear them. Here is my current setup. Pioneer: SA-9500II 80w/ch Integrated, SG-9800 EQ, TX-8500II Tuner, CT-F1000 Cassette, RT-909 10.5" Reel, Two PL-518 TT, PL-540 TT, PL-560 TT PDR-609 CD Recorder Carver: Twin M-400 Poweramps 500w ea. as monos DBX: 224, 228, 400X, 400XG SAE: 5000, 5000A Infinity: Qe's Current speakers. My problem is that with my new Carver amps the Qe's are really under rated for the amp. I tried listening to some Polk LSi9's and LSi7's but the only place local is Frys and they tried to audition them using a HK home theater amp that had a price tag of 199.99. High end gear there. They also tried using some Sony DVD player to play my CD. I recorded a cd from a Talking Heads LP. I sampled it at (^KHz and at 24bits per sample I then edited it for EQ and db levels using Sound Forge. The final was recorded as a .wav and not a compressed MP3 on to a RMG Green Tune Master Music CD-R. It does sound nice in my GMC Yukon. It sounded very bad in there system. Lots of mids but that was it. Sounded very hollow. Tried turning on a sub and that made it sound worse. The bass was very muddy. Still no highs. In my Yukon I play it almost totally flat. Treble set at 1 and Bass at 0. I have a 8 inch sub powered by a 160 watt amp. Very nice highs almost to much so I know there is allot of high eq on this CD. I have to blame the equipment and the lack of knowledge from the Frys kids. So I was outa there. Went on to Best Buy. Not my idea of a high end stereo shop just like Frys. Anyways I was able to listen to a set of Klipsch RB-10s through a ok system. These for there size sounded great. nice mids and highs. I knew I had highs on this cd. Hahahaha. The 10's aren't going to work. To small and low power handling but still nice. Went up to a pair of XB-10s. Now were starting to cook. The mids and highs really came out. We added in a Klipsch 12": sub at a low power setting and this really woke it up. This cd sounded great even at the treb. set at 0 and the Bass at 0. I had the sales guy add some treb. and things really sounded sweet. Alas the XB or WB speakers won't do. Low power handling. They don't carry the RB-81s matter of fact the dont carry anything from Klipsch higher than the WB-14. I did listen to some Vienna's that ran 1400.00 ea. So the Klipsch price tag for the higher end bookshelf's was not at issue. So here is my dilemma. I really liked what I heard from the XB-10s and the small RB-10s. I also liked the sound of the 12" sub from Klipsch but I need to hear some RB-81s. I think these will fit the bill but cant be sure till I hear them. I dont want purchase them if they dont sound right. Im sure they will but still dont want to fork out that cash and be upset. Is there anywheres close to Fremont Ca. where I can audition the Klipsch line? I am looking for bookshelf's and the 800.00 price tag of the RB-81 fits the bill. I tried the Klipsch find a dealer thing but almost all of the dealers are just HT setup outfits and don't have a showroom. Oh I mainly listen to 70s and 80s rock and do alot of recording from LP to computer to digitize my LP collection.
