my ears hurt......too loud
-
you have it the other way around
if it were 160 in parallel, each subs would be getting 160.
series is where each sub would have to share the watts from the amp.
-
right now the amp is in parallel, which means the each sub is getting the all the amp can give without any diminishing returns. so if the parallel amp is 80W, both subs would get 80W.
if you had an 80W series amp, both subs would have to share that 80W, so each sub would only get 40W.

i'm wondering this too.
and i'm wondering what the crossover difference between the orginal promedia's and the 4.1's
-
still waiting
-
what do you mean by better channel separation? does the preamp that i have now have a problem with channel separation?
-
i just did it, and you're right! much cleaner sounding
getting attaching the 1/8" inch plugs was a bit of a pain tho, but not too difficult
-
$7.99 wire it is then
-
thanks, i'll try it tomorrow
do you know if the brand of the 16 gauge wire matters?
-
can you give instructions on how to do it?? sounds gr8.
-
the only problem that i have win win2k and sblive is that i get no sound of from my cd player (digital).
-
-
oh ok *shrug* oh well, i'm happy with it
i made that smilie myself, thank you very much
-
sorry, just playin around

it sounded good to MY ears.

this decoder is way better than winamp's nitrane one. i just installed this plugin (it replaces the winamp's mpeg input) for winamp, and now the music sounds much clearer (and more neutral to my ears). i don't even have to adjust the equalizer settings anymore. before, i had to use the fullbass&treble setting to make it sound good. if i use that same setting with this decoder, it makes the music sound tinny. everyone install this plugin now! after you install it, go to it's configuration and put it on 16bit (most sound cards, including live, don't support anything higher).

oops! i meant sound in the title my composition teacher would gonna kill me if she saw that, we just went over subject verb agreement today

my sblive 5.1 works fine with my promedia's on win2k. everything works like it did with win98se. if philips had better drivers for win2k, i'd trade in this pos sblive

oh, wow i was wondering if that was possible, and i was thinking about doing that. i'm very interested in what you come up with!

have you messed with a Equalizer settings on winamp, deffy? for some reason, with sblive, the Full Bass and Treble preset on the winamp equalizer makes it sound much better to my ears even tho it actually lowers the midrange
-
hehehe
but yeah you're right. these speakers have no mid range you gotta play with the equilizer a bit. because of the horn tweeters, the highs on them are an aquired tasted and can be harsh sometimes. if you don't like it, you should just return the speakers cuz there isn't much you can do about that. *whispers* these really aren't audiophile speakers.
you should look into the bostons BA4800, those will probably suit your needs better.

Are the new 4.1 sats the same sats as the 2.1's?
in Personal Music Systems

that review of the new 4.1's said that the satellites of the 4.1 are the same satellites of the 2.1 promedias.
this can't be true, can it? aren't the 2.1's only 35watts?
