  1. I had foam tips with my Ety', but they never sounded as good as the rubber. I think this makes sense as the rubber creates the better seal IMO. Bonus points for the unique solution though. I would imagine that there might be some foam tips made specifically for IEMs that may fit the Custom series. Donno though. Professor Thump- I have tried every single tip multiple times in this ear. Left ear is quite satisfied with the double filange, but nothing will feel right in the other ear, let alone seal. Very disappointing because I love the sound! Why the X5 over the x10?
  2. I had a pair of Etymotic ER-6's before splurging on Custom 3's. I was very tempted to go for Ety's ER-4p because of the reviews they get, but I've always really enjoyed the Klipsch sound, plus the Custom 3's have dual drivers, so I went Klipsch. The sound quality of the C 3's is simply worlds above the ER-6s. I've also had Shure's E3c's. I mean, really no comparison. after the initial burn in period, I am amazed to have a product in my ears that sounds this good. However, there are some things to keep in mind. The fit on these things is unlike any other IEM i've ever tried. it could just be my ear shape, but i've never had such a hard time fitting. i still can't make these things comfortable in my ears. the cable issue, as pointed out in an earlier post, is something to look out for. you can prevent the cable from getting permanent kinks, but it takes A LOT of active monitoring and care. Kind of annoying...
  3. I've been extremely careful with the cable after reading the various accounts of kinks. The main cable is now mostly fine, a few minor bends, but not kinks. However, the bends remain all through the cable after the separater. These clearly formed from the way the headphones were originally packaged. There is no getting rid of them. If Klipsch continues to use the same material/cable, perhaps they be packaged in a way that would minimize these creases? It's quite annoying that I have done everything in my power to keep the cable in good condition, but that I cannot undo defects that were pre-existing. As to the cause, I'm no engineer, but skin oil seems suspect when, at least in my case, permanent creases were created by packaging.
  4. Hi guys, I've had my custom 3's for a few weeks now, and I really love everything about the sound. far superior to my last IEMs. Unfortunately, I cannot get these earphones to fit me in a way that does not cause me serious pain. I literally cannot wear them for longer than 20 minutes before they hurt to the point where I have to take them off, and when that happens, removing them from my ear is even more painful, particularly in the right ear. This is not a sizing issue- I've tried every size on multiple occasions, and I've even used the tips with other earphones. The only ones that seem unoffensive right now are the small size, but i can't get a good seal. I don't think it's even a question of propertly fitting them into my ear- I've read many if not most of the existing accounts on fitting issues. When the main body of the earphone sits against my ear, it will become extremely uncomfortable on the lower ridge between the concha and the tragus, Has anyone had this same kind of pain outside of the ear?
