  1. Well.. the local repair shop said that there were bad traces in the power supply and amp and also that they could not get parts for it. They did not charge me for the diag but now I have a sub that doesn't work. I am not sure if this is the only part I need for repair but I found a replacement amp on Amazon for $169 here: http://www.amazon.com/KLIPSCH-1006680-RW-12D-120V-ORIGINAL/dp/B0034IVEZK I did enjoy the Klipsch sub and originally got it for a steal of a price. The sub is no longer for sale at a good price online so I am left with the repair or purchasing a new sub. I have been looking at the Outlaw Audio LD-1 EX as a replacement. Any thoughts?
  2. Hi, I have an RW-12d sub that has been enjoyed for several years without any issues. I just replaced my Pioneer Elite A/V receiver with the new Yamaha RX-A3010 and found that hte sub fuse was blown on my RW-12d. I triple checked all wiring and replaced the fuse to only have it pop immediately. I removed all cabling and the fuse still blows immediately. The sub never powers on. The sub worked find with the old amp and only is having an issue now. It was sitting disconnected for only a week or so before setting up the new receiver. I am planning on taking it in for service at a local electronics repair place for $80 plus parts. Is there anything else I can try before I take it in? Also, just an FYI: The sub retails for $699 or so and is currently selling new for only $329 with free shipping
  3. Thanks for the offer but I am NOT desperate. I would keep it for $350. I am willing to sell it but please, serious inquiries and offers only. The sub is still factory sealed.
  4. It is still in the box if you can believe it. Been going through a tough financial time so it will likely never be heard. I have been thinking about putting it up for sale. Let me know if you are interested. I will make you a good deal on it.
  5. Thanks for all the input everybody. I decided to pick up the XW-500d anyhow so I can audition it in my home. I can always sell it if I don't end up keeping it since I got it for a great price. I will post back when I have a chance to compare the two, although it may not me anytime soon with my schedule I am not looking to upgrade as much as downsize. I know that there is no replacement for displacement but I always thought that there were some 10" subs out there that could keep close with 12s. I am hoping that this Icon sub is one of them.
  6. Thanks Frzninvt. I do already have the timbre matched KLF-C7 though. My issue is that the KLF-C7 is always too tall fo fit where I need it to. I need to downsize the center speaker to fit with my tv stand and furniture. That is the reason I have been looking at the RC-62/RC-64. I love the way the Legends towers sound, I just need a center speaker with a shorter cabinet that still sounds good with the KLF-20's. As I mentioned, I may end up changing over to the RF-83 towers in the future to replace the KLF-20 towers so a future timbre match may be possible. I am not sure how different the RF is over the KLF being one is a 2 way speaker and the other is a 3 way. I do not want to give up the sound from the KLF towers, though, which I enjoy mostly listening to music.
  7. Thanks for the input everybody. I just sold my receiver and my new one doesn't come until next week so I will have to wait to test the Phantom Center channel mode. The replacement will be a Pioneer Elite SC-05. I am pretty familiar with timbre matching. I thought that the RC Series of center channel would still match closely for the KLF's especially the RC-64 which has 4 6.5" woofers. The specs on the Klipsch website for the RC center channel speakers show they have amost the same horn driver and actually have greater sonic range than the KLF which has dual 8" drivers. Wouldnt they be an ok fit with the KLF-20's, especially the extra air movement of the 4 6.5" woofers in the RC-64? I may consider going with RF-83 fronts down to road to replace the KLF-20's. These are the factory matches to the RC center speakers. I have to admit that when listening to home theater, I mostly want superb dialog and do not care to much for effects and surround. I do listen to a lot of music through this system in 2.1 mode.
  8. That sounds interesting to do without a center channel. I will have to try it to see how it sounds with and without. I havent heard many people do this before. I think I do want to replace it with another, though. I was thinking the RC-62 since it is a Reference speaker and has larger 6.5" woofers. I would really consider the RC-64 but they are a bit more than I want to spend for downsizing Would this be an ok match to the KLF-20 fronts?
  9. I currently have the KLF-C7 but it's cabinet it way to large to go with my new theater room furniture and setup. I need a replacement that will complement the Legend towers nicely for theater but also be significantly smaller in size. I was thinking a center channel with 5 1/4" to 6 1/2 " woofers would be an ok size. Any thoughts?
  10. Can you tell me how the subs would be different? In what good or bad ways? Will I notice any difference in tone being its a sealed 10" vs. my 12" ported sub? I have the chance to basically even swap the subs with no money out of pocket. Will this be a good move? I do like the sleek, smaller cabinet of the XW-500 but not at a big sound loss if there would be one.
  11. Thanks for the reply. Do you think I would be happy with replacing the RW-12d sub with the XW-500d and keeping the Legend speakers? Will there be much difference between the subs? I mostly listen to music with this system but also some TV/home theater. I would say a mix 80/20.
  12. Hello All. I currently have a Klipsch RW-12d paired with Legend series KLF-20 fronts and KLF-C7 center channel. I am very pleased with the sound, however all the speakers mentioned have extremely large cabinets. For some time now, I have been wanting to replace my setup with new speakers with smaller cabinets but do not want to lose what I have with the Legends (twin 10" woofers in each floorstander and twin 8" woofers in the center channel speaker) and 12" sub. I am afraid that I will not be as happy with the resulting sound as I do like the amount of bass I get from them. I have the chance to purchase a XW-500d and matching Icon speakers at a large discount and would like to know if I should make the move. The icon series floor speakers and center are very thin compared to the Legend series and the 10" sealed sub is significantly smaller. I heard them in a Magnolia test room but my theater room has very different accoustics. All my speakers are being pushed by a Pioneer Elite VSX-92TXH receiver and the room is a large 25' x 15' that is open to other rooms in some areas. No carpet, tile floor throughout.
