  1. I contributed to this message board back in March of 2009. I gave a positive review of my experience with Elliot. My system was returned to me in the time he said it would and it worked great. I am sorry to read of all this negative reviews and experiences from others over the last year and a half, but do believe in the subtstance of the complaints. My once repaired and great sounding 5.1 system has been sitting in my office collecting dust for the better part of 8 months. The repair did not even last a year. I am not going to blame anyone, but it seems to me that it is possibly a combination of a poor design by Klipsch and a poor repair by Elliot, or both. There are many speaker systems in this price range that go years without problems, but these speakers seem to be the exception. Repairing them does not seem to be the solution, unless you are an electronics expert who has the expertise to fix them yourself everytime they break. There are too few places to send them that will do the repair at a reasonable expense and in a reasonable time. After a repair is done, the electronics board (at least in my case) worked again for less than a year. So, I suggest you switch to a cheap pair of Sony bookshelves (like me, since I have a tin ear anyway) or you buy a new pair of 5.1s that have a better reputation of longevity, and do not bother sending these Klipsch Pro 5.1 boat anchors to any one for repair, not Elliot, not Klipsch themselves. Save your money. The repair probably won't last and the hassle is not worth it. My speakers will sit in the corner collecting dust until I get over the idea that these were once upon a time a good sounding speaker that I dream could one day be a contender again. That day is not far off, at which time I will drop them in my trash and not think about them ever again. Good luck all.
  2. Here is an update to my reply entered March 26, 2009. I just received my Promedia 5.1 AMP back from elliot-tronics in Cedar Hill Texas. The speakers are once again working and sounding great. Elliot took about 22 business days to complete the repair/upgrade. I had to prepay through paypal $115 before he would do the work. I then shipped him the AMP. He did what he said he would do in the time he said he would do it. If the speakers hold up for a few years (which they should) it will have been money well spent. Guy
  3. I am going to ship to Elliott for the repair. For about $130 round trip with repair and upgrade (from Houston) it is cheaper than a new 5.1 speaker system and as expensive as a good 2.0 - 2.1 system. If my Ultra 5.1s hold up for another 3+ years it will be worth the fix. Thank you for the suggestion Satchel.
