  1. Im not much help - but I have the same cackle on my 2.1 from the left satellite and also know it's not the speaker itself as if I switch the wiring then the right speaker cackles. LMK if you figure this out as it's extremely annoying and I've just ended up unplugging my left satellite speaker for now.
  2. Hi, I'm hoping someone smarter than me can help explain something on my Promedia 2.1 Computer Speakers. I purchased these speakers less than a year ago from Best Buy and have been dealing with a "crackling" type static noise coming out of the left satellite speaker almost since I bought them. The noise is very noticable and the louder I turn up the volume knob on the right speaker the louder the crackling/static becomes on the left speaker. The only way I know to minimize it is to turn the volume knob on my speaker very low as well as the volume on my PC. by very low, I mean almost not audible! The crackling to occurs pretty much whenver any sound is being emitted from the speaker. Every now and then it will crackle when I'm not emitting any type of sound from the speaker but it's mostly when I'm listening to stuff. I have ruled out the speaker itself as when I swap the left and right speakers, then the right speaker cackles and the left doesn't, so that leads me to believe it has something to do with the input cord on the left side then?? I have cleaned that cord using a very light bit of alcohol and it didnt make a difference. I've also read a lot of posts for this particular speaker set (ProMedia 2.1) about hissing noise being emitted, but I would not describe this as a hissing and those complaints also state that the hissing is nonstop (even when no sound is emitted) so I think I have a problem much different than that. Any ideas suggests from some audiphiles that might be able to pinpoint what this is? I for the life of me cannot find my receipt or I would have taken in for manufacturer warranty long ago. Right now I just have that speaker unplugged altogether meaning I'm only using 1 satelitte and my subwoofer so I dont have to listen to the cackle - but that certainly isn't how I intended to use the speaker system when I purchased it and would like to have the benefit of the additional satellite speakers (minus the crackling noise) if anyone can advise me of potential ways to fix this. Thanks! -Jeff F
