  1. I think so. A 402 built out of wood might be just what a man is after.
  2. Mike. Here how the test was formed. First of all, obviously, i put 1 402 in 1 corner and 1 of my different horns in the other. They were in the same room at the same time. I tried a few different drivers. I listened to some community m200s. i then listened to some jbl 2425. i have listened to jbl 2452. They were on a pair of my jub clones. As far as where i was crossing over the mid range, it changed for different drivers. The m200 can were crossed at not allowed to go below 400 and the bass cab was crossed at topped at 400. The jbl 2425 were stopped at 800 and my cabinets were brought up to 800. I even turned off tweeters and cab so i was just hearing horns. Its not that i didn't like 402. It is a nice horn. I had heard people say once you hear that you wont listen to anything else. So i had to see for myself. In "my opinion" here is what i think. I think my horn was about just a little louder. But that could be cause its half a 402. I can here vocal differences between the wood and the fiberglass. The 402 is very smooth. I think the wood is a little brighter in some instances. The 402 is a nice horn. But for the size it was gonna have to be better than mine and it isnt. On a scale of 1 to 10, if the 402 is a 9, then my wood horns would be a 9.1 or 9.2. My horns just didn't blow it out of the water. I am in process though of making a custom 402 out of wood. It will be a few weeks as i am doing other projects. As far as measurments on my horns... i will just show you a picture of 1
  3. Its always a joy to see people comment on what they don't know for themselves... "Their" ignorance really starts to show.
  4. That is a good question. Well if the 402 sounded better than my custom made wood horns, i would have built a much bigger top to house the 402. Since my wood horns sound better, i built a custom top for my wood horns.
  5. That light was coming straight across the front so it really showed it. But it really isnt that noticeable or that bad. But then again i do see it when the light hits it. Probably gonna come off to day and gonna go ahead and put in frame.
  6. How bout 1 of these? gotta put back middle braces and bottom grill covers.
  7. i have built and designed a few wood horns.... and i know i can build one that will work with that.
  8. i was just throwing the 15s out there. the 12s are probably better. i don't think it would be over 80 would it?. a jublike speaker is about 32 inches maybe.. so 64 inches.. plus a midrange horn of 12 inches maybe... so yes close to 80 inches..
  9. would this horn idea work?... putting a midrange horn in the middle.. and put it vertical...and then setting tweeter on top. Someone told me that Klipsch makes on of these already. a big center chanel speaker that looks like a tv stand. is this correct?
  10. so then it would still be ok?... i think i might get started on this here in a few days.. i also have 2 spare 15s.. they are the replacements for khorn... could i used them? i will put a sketch on here later today and give an idea of what i am thinking maybe
  11. i like that... i just wondering if you should cover the horn where you don't even know its a speaker other than the grill covers...? Also here is a question. Jwc if we did a 3 woofer bin, would that jack with you ohms.? i thought of that earlier and i don't know the answer to that.
  12. would the lascala be too tall for a tv stand though?.... how tall are they?. I might try to sketch a drawing out and put it on here. If jwc could put his on drawing on here i would love to see it. i know i could cut the jub in half and stack it side by side. but the trick is to build it all 1 piece and no one would know that it was a speaker.
  13. jc... how do you think a triple cabinet would sound?... also i am interested in building a center channel cabinet that is not stacked like the jub but like a jub cut in half and set side by side. This center channel could be like a big piece of an intertainment center that your tv would set on but underneath the tv is a couple of hard hitting 12's
  14. well i better call my lawyer.... cause hyndai and kia are making cars that look like all those expensive ones i can't afford... those counterfeiters.... how dare them make a cheaper car that looks like those expensive ones..
  15. The socialist party is alive and well.... How dare Dodge and Chevrolet copy Ford Motor Company and make another car. How dare them. Dude, we are in America. If i wanna make a close copy of some item... whether it be a car, airplane, helicopter, or speaker... i think this country allows me to. Thanks... and have a nice day!
  16. they have been basically around 300.00 give or take 50.00. I do package them with foam and a custom made box, securely packaged and put on a crate for freight shipment. You can order whatever veneer i can get a hold of all the way from alder to zebra. you can stain them, oil them, whatever you want. I usually always use the klipsch grill covers...(khorn)
  17. 99.. i think they caught us using the old single speaker double mirror trick. rats!!!!! KAOS is just getting too smart
  18. yes... i do have a pic of both of them together. Here is a pic of both of them for all you conspiracy theorists that though i would make just 1 and sell them as a pair. ouch... my secret is out.
  19. yes..... 1500.00 per pair. Again, i build kitchen cabinets and other stuff for a hobby. I enjoy building those clone cabinets... I like the precision and craftsmanship it takes.
  20. its so weird how snobby people can be. its like how dare you ever build anything that even resembles what i spent 10 million dollars on. and how dare you sell it for 20 dollars. i build horns also... i probably have 15 different horn designs setting around my house. no one gets pissy about custom horns just the cabinets.. lol. also just wondering.... i think you are a doctor, correct me if i'm wrong. what kind of dr are you?.... md, do, specialist?
