dont know abt this promedia amp, I guess I was just surprised how loud it goes, but thats just the la scalas being efficient. I listened to a paul mccartney and bob marley cd classics .... well produced tracks. hearing a lot of things I dont like. These la scalas sounded way better except the noise from that old amp. these scalas sure shows up an amp

Hehe yes they are my buddies, though I ment the two of them are buddies, since they have been together since they were made. I see you're using Jub Scalas, what are those ? I hope its not the jubilee sub, there's actualy a website where a guy copies jubilee subs. its a LOT!! of work. I am think about using the horn sub jr. (google it) ... its an easy sub project. Plus I see youre using an ev procesor, I was thinking about using a dbx driverack too. This hafler ta 1600 and ta 1100 amps are looking pretty attractive to me too.

Yes they sound great. They sound pretty good from this promedia amp. Sounds better than that harman kardon hk730 imho. My mixer has a master out that shows the distortion, its not in the red and it very loud. I think thats like a 5w amp, but it sounds damn good. 55watts Instantaneous power. but not sure what the signal to noise ratio is, hopefully I will find a better amp one of these days, still looking.

Hi I posted about these two La Scalas I picked up for about $800. Well I was looking for an amp, I bought a Harman Kardon HK730 from ebay, it was damaged in shipping thank god cause I didnt liek how it sounded so I got my money back. I had old amps liek a Kenwood that stopped working and an old amp made in brazil which was sending some sort of noise. But it had a meter that showed it was putting out a whopping 0.5 watts at decent but low volume.My father said it was the crossover but I had my doubts since it was both of the speakers. Then I figured I would use the amp from my computer. A Klipsch Promedia amp that has separate outputs for satellites. Wow was I surprised, it sounded crisp clear and loud. I dont think I need any more amp than this. Can someone give more information about these two buddies (sequential serial #) ? I got a Harman kardon HK730 from ebay, its in excellent condition too. Should receive it tmrw. I am not sure what year these LA Scalas I have were made in but they look pretty old. I should have asked the buy I bought them from what year they were made in. They sound pretty good, the mids and highs are amazing, I use a Denon DJ CDPLAYER that plays MP3s and the highs from the mp3s sound horrible. I guess they could improve on these but these are the only speakers I've had that I want to turn them down and not up cause they sound so good at low volumes and high volumes, its strange but the sound is amazing. BASS ---------------- Yes it is lacking in bass, but I have a HUGE subwoofer in my garage that I plan on eqing down, it was designed by Tom Danley and the plans are on prosoundweb.com its the LAB SUBWOOFER. Its probably more efficient than a la scala with bass, IT will rattle the foundation of your house with 10 watts, but it is a huge horn, that needs a lot of eqing to smooth out the response, will need to use a DRIVERACK PA.

thanks for the reply, I am thinking about getting an HK 730. This sucks, the little sound I was able to get out of one of these sounds really good, cant wait to see what they both sound like on a halfway decent amp.

my budget is not very big, $500 [] thinking abt using a Yamaha P5000s, which I already have, would that work? how many watts can these handle ?

So I managed to pick up some La Scalas for a good price. ( very good, plus the guy was glad to get rid of them, wifey said they had to go ) But I havent been able to fully hear what these things are capable of doing. I had a Kenwood receiver, but its sending a horrible signal, and only operating in dolby pro logic or something liek that. Next I tried a 6060 made in brazil from the 80s, but it sending pops to the speaker so I refrained from turning it up.. Now I started to bid on a Marantz Model Sixteen on ebay, but I didnt realize what a great amp it was and didnt bid enough. So what amp should I get and preamp, ..... thanks. ...
