  1. i understand your nitpicks, but that's all they are. this box is not going to be anything like your favorite best buy receivers of yesteryear. you might have to change some habits or ways of thinking in order to maximize the unit ...but rest assured it is very flexible. not really coming down on you or disagreeing, merely trying to add some perspective.

oh and thanks for not rippen me a new on :)

  2. as far as i know the current eq makes you go into the main programming menu to adjust it. my sony had an on the fly eq where u could make all these adjustments quickly from the remote and the unit disply... very quickly. not on a slower graphical user interface. its just one of those things ill need to learn to live with. its a great receiver though

i need to learn how to use these presets you speak of. thats new to me

  3. do you guys want to hear my thoughts?

    Sure!

Oh, the word "coming" only has one "m" in it by the way. We'll get your signature perfect eventually!

    Straight LOL ...

    LOLLOLLOL

ill get it right one day... hehe

okay heres my thoughts. the receiver sounds great, but minor details saddens me.

    1. there could be a more user friendly EQ where i can make on the fly adjustments other than base and trebel to main speakers and also the rear and side speakers aswell. My sony had a very user friendly EQ, i miss it.
    2. Dual outputs are great, but dual disply simotaneously is better. Ex, me and my wife love to watch sports and we hate commercials so we record them with the DVR. When im in the room watching the recorded game on HDMI 1, she could be in the work out room watching the game with me on the second display in there. As it is now, Marantz 8002 makes you choose 1 or the other but not both to display to, so we are force to send an HDMI from the direct tv receiver to the other room and forced to use componet in the main room.
    3. The companion remote is not RF so whats the point??? IMO both remotes should come standard RF. wouldnt that be nice.
    4. The remotes are primitive if you ask me. They still come with preset funcions like VCR, and DVD, and MD.... so I have my blue ray on the preset DVD button and my MP3 player on the VCR. I would much rather my buittons to say Video 1, Video 2, or something of that sort then saying CD, or VCR. Thats just so outdated. even on the back of the unit with the input panel, it has preset words for old school devices which ill never use again.
    5. Codes for the remote to work with atleast the most popular new devices like blu ray players and cable recievers would be nice. my remote doesnt work with Direct TV DVR's
    6. Sirius Ready would be awesome... not everybody has XM
    7. More HDMI inputs would be nice. 4 is still not enough for me.
    8. The manual was not very user friendly either. The manual would be explaining something but would refer to something else in the manual while showing you how to do something, but wouldnt give you a page # to what it was referencing. So i was forced to download the PDF so i could search what it was talking about. I had to do this often.

There are more small things i can think of but its nothing major, and these arnt that major either, but when you combine all of the small things, it adds up to lower satisfaction level for me. a 2000 dollar receiver should come with more flexiblity imo, but true enough is just an opinion and im sure many will disagree.

  4. Yes I've tried stereo... many times, and cranked it up... but it just ain't hittin like it should. It has to be something else. I've tried numerous surround and stereo and my 300 dollar sony was louder. I'm doin something wrong.

I do like to try the music suround sound settings a lot though. My pesonal fav is "neo6 music". I have to have near full volume before the speaker really starts to move though. The stereo sounds okay but its not loud. I won't go deaf anytime soon that's for sure.

  5. when i turn the thing on, i dont get audio until i get from the bottom (-71) till i reach about -47. then i dont get a good decent listening volume until i reach -15 or -10. theres only a little more ways to climb after that. my system isnt getting loud enough soon enough... and when i crank it up to +15... its loud but that just cant be all this thing has.

I've yet to get to the + side of mine. - 8 is as high as I'm willing to go in fear of blowing my windows out. Big Smile

I got some temporary rf-82's being delivered tomarrow but right now I'm pushing some polk audio 15's and I'm not feeling the thunder :( I envy u right about now. My rc-6c isn't even loud. Something is a miss definately
  6. LOL... i wouldnt have never noticed that minor detail [:o] must have been drunk off gatoraid when i wrote that sig.

my audio source is surround sound mp3's and directv music channels. ill do the auddyssey and see if that fixes it. i thought for sure i did it right manually, but well see. thanks for the advice

  7. all that just sounds so lovely but im not having such good luck. sorry to hijack this thread but can you guys help me understand whats going on with my volume. I set up the 8002 manually, distance, test tone, and such... and i have set it up correctly from reading the manual, but when i turn the thing on, i dont get audio until i get from the bottom (-71) till i reach about -47. then i dont get a good decent listening volume until i reach -15 or -10. theres only a little more ways to climb after that. my system isnt getting loud enough soon enough... and when i crank it up to +15... its loud but that just cant be all this thing has. :( what am i doing wrong

  8. Congrats, maybe you could tell her the guys on the Klipsch site really want to know how you like it.Wink

:D the guys on s&v mag really helped me feel better about buying it. i was sweatin bullets thinking it wouldnt make my ears bleed. i will post here how it performs on the rf-83's. im wanting permanent ear damage

  9. Glad to hear they arrived safely!

Next purchase is the ED A3-300. Then I am done with speakers for a longgggGreat deal for these RB-61's....pretty darn happy.

Yeah, I hope I can jump on one of these deals in the future! Authorized reseller, NIB, shipping included... dang!

Sound distributors do NIB for B stock prices and will match any price from any seller which is good. The better thing about it is the local shop in town will match that low price too so that excludes waiting for shipment. Deals are awesome. 6 ave rocks
  10. Well I already bought the 8002 and it just shipped today. I went to listen the that yamaha 3900 on some rf-62's at the store and it distorted when it got loud... trash. If the marantz don't work out, thenthats what I might resort to.

  11. Okay that's what I was thinking from all u guys have told me here. My 8002 should be here in a few days. But one more question. How do the denon top of the lines compare withe top of the line marantz?

  12. I was told by that the yamaha rx-v3900 would have more power to push 2 rf-83's than the Marantz sr-8002. Is this true... will the yamaha actually give a higher quality sound over the marantz or is this guy smokin dop? I was sure I had the impression that the marantz would do a better job?

  13. Question is, will i rock the box in here... with that setup? listening to music using that SR8002?

There are plenty of speakers that would rock a small bedroom. What are the dimensions of your room? I still don't see the benefit of listening to two pairs of speakers. Will you have all four on one wall or two on say the front wall and two on the back? Either way, our ears are used to listening to music in stereo so to me, I prefer a 2.1 setup for music. My RF-83's and Velodyne HGS15 sub provide plenty of bass for my 13' x 19' x 10' room.

its a 12 x 13 room, but wouldnt 4 be lounder than 2? Well this room is temperary, hopefully when i move i can put 1 rf-83 in each corner. so wouldnt a 4.1 setup in a bedroom sound great on 2 channel stereo runnin rf-83's? loud and fabulous?

  14. I love punch and base.... so when listening to music I plan to run 4 RF-83's, 2 on each side... one pair on A channel and a pair on the B channel... plus ill have the RW-12d sub kicken with them...

Question is, will i rock the box in here... with that setup? listening to music using that SR8002?
