  1. Thanks, just bought the supplies and doing this later this week
  2. i am curious to know what this wavelength cosecant v3 is and whats so good about it. i couldnt find too much information that made sence to me when i googled it
  3. yea, raid 10 or 0+1 would be nice, but i use really good western digital drives and they are very reliable, but in the event of a failure, im covered because i do routine back ups... and i also have a back up of my back up drive. i prefer raid 0 because i like to mirror manually
  4. EAC here too, its awesome
  5. the wife just bought me 3TB for my new flac collection... 3 RE3 western digitals raid 0 [] [D]shes a keeper
  6. what source do you feel is compromised? If all you are getting is lossless from an already over compressed cd then i am not impressed. Sure its convenient, just like cd's are more convenient than lp's. But listening to cd's is already bad enough. I guess flac doesn't make it any worse at least. well im unaware of anything better than cd quality... enlighten me??
  7. FLAC files seem like they have a much stronger signal and play noticably lounder than my 320bit MP3 music
  8. correct, i play files through WinDVD and PowerDVD and i use virtual clone drive for my ISO files, and I get full DTS and DD surround sound... but i dont get trueHD or DTS: Master. that sucksthe only difficulty i faced in setting up the FLAC was knowing which player to use and which driver to download. ASIO didnt work, kept crashing, so i used WASAPI... and walla... brilliance i guess the main thing was just having a really good HD HDMI video/sound card capable of playing the bitstream. it goes up to 192hGz/24bit... and all i had to do was select that as output device and connect the HDMI cable to the receiver... and get the WASABI drivers for Foobar
  9. no, i can not play anything. im using the wasapi driver and it restricts anything else from playing while i got a lossless audio track playing in foobar... so im good to go. and it wasnt too much trouble getting it set up, it was quite easy. there is a secondary windows audio session API file that i had to download and use, and its working. see the previous post with the photo

  13. looks nice, but possibly unnecessary in my case if i can make sure my laptop isnt using k-mixer. i have about 400 gigs of music... im not so sure the server can hold it all Olive offers a terabyte, which is what I use, it has plenty of capacity, but I would agree a laptop is a cheaper option, not sure what DACs you use there. i have the wasabi option set in foobar, then i go directly from my HD video/sound card straight to the receiver. im not sure how i would be using the lossy k-mixer... so im under the empression that im geting bit exact. look at the picture i posted above.im not sure what a DAC is though.... im green when it comes to audio
  14. this is how i figure im getting lossless.... i have it set to 24 bit post processing. wasapi is supposed to be bit exact
