  1. Thank you for the heads up. The K-1001 K is what Klipsch recommended as a replacement. I've installed the replacement and ran a sound check this morning; and, to my amateur ear, the replacement sounds great.
  2. I really appreciate the suggestions. While the 620's are lacking at the low end, I built a VMPSS sub kit(12" active+15" passive about 12 years ago) that had advertised a low of 19, although I've never metered it.
  3. Thank you to everyone who replied. I contacted Klipsch and was told that since the last model year was 1994, they no longer have any replacements. However, they did give me links to 4 businesses that recone speakers: http://www.iaelectronics.com/contact.html http://www.simplyspeakers.com/ http://www.woofer.com/ http://speakerex.com/index.html
  4. I swapped the woofer from the cabinet that sounded good to the one that didn't and now it does. So, the woofer is bad. Looks are deceiving as the woofer looked to be in great condition - the rubber was supple, the voice coil leads were well soldered and the voice coil paper material looked to be new. Out of curiosity, is this a common issue with KG-4.2 woofers? Any ball park on the woofer replacement cost?
  5. I am new so please be nice! I picked up a pair of KG-4.2's for next to nothing because 1 of the pair is not working correctly. By not correctly, I mean the tweeter is generating the high frequencies fine, but the mid range(speaker in the center of the cabinet) is barely audible; and the bass is non existent. I can move my dual banana plug from the KG-4.2 to the B&W 620 sitting right next to it and the 620 sounds great (So I know its not a wiring, plug, or left channel issue). I welcome any trouble shooting help anyone may offer.
