  1. I see that planetminidisc has them in stock, but I can find no reference to free shipping anywhere. They also want $299 (+shipping???), which is $20 higher than CompUSA et al. Thanks anyways for the info.
  2. BTW, let's say I bought a 4.1 today and later decided I wanted a 4.2 (or two separate 2.1 sets), could I buy a sub by itself from Klipsch online? How much? Thanks.
  3. I can't wait to listen to "Alexander Nevsky" on the Klipsches. Hmmm...decisions decisions--the 4.1s, 4.2s or "6.2s"--damn I can't make up my mind.
  4. I'll buy that. Do you know if you can hook Klipsch speakers to a TV-VCR?
  5. OK, another question: So why are the 2.1 spks rated at a lower power than the 4.1s? It seems like that: 1) It would be more trouble for Klipsch to produce a slightly different spk and 2)It could hurt the 2.1's sales by comparison with the 4.1's power-per-spk. Thanks
  6. I checked at the local CompUSA and BestBuy and no dice. Maybe in 2 weeks they said. FYI, BestBuy said they had 3000 on order. Something I hadn't considered is buying a 4.1 for the bedroom and a 2.1 for the living room. That could be the solution to my home audio problem(no stereo, that is). This may be a stupid newbie question, but can Klipsch speakers be hooked up to your TV/VCR? That would be a big plus. Thanx.
  7. First off, can anyone tell me which online supplier actually has the 4.1s in stock? Also, I'd like your opinions on this: Klipsch is offering a 4.2 setup for $299. What is the practicality of using one 2.1 in the bedroom and one in the living room of my 1-bdrm apt? I could move the other set to the bedroom if I wanted surround sound. I also seem to recall hearing that the 2.1 aren't as strong(per speaker) as the 4.1s. I guess my question is; can a 2.1 adequately serve a room, or is that asking too much? If so I will just stick with the 4.1. Advice appreciated. BTW, how would you rate the Klipsches for music (mainly classical) listening? Most reviews I have read focus on gaming.
  8. Thanks for the replies, but I still need to know how close the sub can be to the monitor. Any takers?
  9. Like how far is far enought away from your monitor? 2 feet? 6 feet?
  10. I'll start off by saying that what little I know about home audio, I learned here. My question is: How close can you put the sub to the monitor? I was considering putting the sub on a shelf about a foot above the monitor in the corner of the room. Can it be this close? I could also put it on the (carpeted) floor in the corner beneath the desk. Should it be placed in a corner of the room or not? If not, can someone post some rules of thumb on placement? Advice is appreciated.
  11. Soundcity(via a link I found in another post) sez $279.00 + $13.95 S+H.
  12. OK, I educated myself on their features and decided to get the 4.1s. Question is how long will it be before they are available say at Best Buy or CompUSA? Reason is, that while online prices may be somewhat lower, usually shipping makes up for it, plus returns can be problematic. OK, some online suppliers already have them, so how long am I going to wait to buy them locally? Thanks for the help. PS- I was really kicking myself yesterday, as I saw a set of 2400s at BestBuy for $209+tax. I went home to research them and found all the glowing reviews, ran back to the store...to find them GONE. DOH! Oh well, I'm buying the 4.1s anyway, but that was a nice price!
  13. I am ready to take the plunge into buying a quality speaker set for my new Dell. I have read many great reviews of the v2400, and was about to buy it. However, a guy at Best Buy said they were being discontinued. From reading a little on this board it seems they are being replaced by the "4.1s" Can someone give me a rundown on what the differences and improvements are btw v2400 and 4.1? Also, if the 2400s are being discontinued, what are the chances of picking one up at a discount, and where should I look? That is if I didn't decide to buy the new 4.1s. Sorry for my ignorance, but any and all information will be appreciated.
