  1. I don't think so. I couldn't find anything locally that wasn't a high-end tower (more than I wanted to spend) or a more heritage type speaker which I don't have room for. The amp gets here today and the speakers come Monday. Can't wait! Consarn S4's and Promedia 2.1 system making me love Klipsch and giving me the itch to upgrade [H]
  2. Can't say that I'll always live in apartments, however, being in the Northern VA / DC Metro area, it's a good possibility I'll be in an apartment/condo for a while. I checked on Craigslist, Audiogon, and of course here before I made my purchase. In hindsight, I have no regrets about buying new. Plus, Acoustic Sound Design was running a sale
  3. Thanks for the responses guys. I decided to go with the RF-42 ii package with a sub. Also, picked up a Denon AVR-2112ci for a new amp. Should work out nice!
  4. Thanks for the response. I have not had problems with my neighbors in the past, in fact they always say they can never hear anything coming from my apartment, however I try really hard not to be "that noisy guy". Honestly, I haven't looked at used set-ups mostly because I've always thought buying used speakers is a no-no. Maybe I'm mistaken. You say there is a benefit. Would you say the sound quality advantage of tower versus bookshelf plus subwoofer is enough to justify the price?
  5. I'm planning my new system and I'm trying to make a decision between floor standing (RF-42 ii) and bookshelf (RB-42 ii) speakers for my L & R. The center and surrounds will be the same either way. I already have a cheapo Denon 5.1 system and I plan on keeping the sub either way. Because I live in an apartment, I don't really like to run at high volumes (I'm usually around 55-65db, IIRC). Would I see an advantage on going with a floor standing speaker set-up compared to a bookshelf set-up in terms of sound quality? Is it really worth the extra expense, when it'll never get pushed to it's full potential? Thanks for the advice, Dave
  6. Those are the ones I know it's not the high-end stuff, in fact, it's the complete opposite in Klipsch's product line, but I still like it. I know one day I move up to a separate amp & speaker set-up. But for now this is a lot better than the Sony CT-100 I was looking at buying before. Edit: Forgot to mention: Picked up a set of Klipsch S4's for my iPhone the other day. I think I found a new brand []
  7. lahn, Everything tuned out great in the end. I received the subwoofer cable and remote free of charge from Klipsch and since then I have purchased some speaker stands ($14.40 [] ) from MonoPrice. I ended up purchasing the Logitech Harmony One remote for my whole system and it works perfectly with the CS-500. Even though it's not necessary for the system to function, I added the "Surround Toggle" to my new remote. It seems like that was the only one missing from the Logitech database. For the on-screen set-up, you can do it with a universal remote. It uses the "Menu" button on Logitech remotes. Hooah, Dave
  8. I wish I could buy one from MonoPrice. I bought some HDMI and component cables there. The cable to the subwoofer is a proprietary Klipsch cable though.
  9. I went to Best Buy today not looking for anything too crazy and they had an open box CS-500 system. It's missing the subwoofer cable and the remote. Ending up buying it for $99 which I thought was a screaming deal. 1. Does anyone know if Klipsch sells the subwoofer cable separately? 2. Also, because of the missing remote, this has driven me that much further to get a universal remote. Do I for some reason need the original remote to program the universal one such as a Logitech or something? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
