  1. Thanks everyone, your replies were very helpful. I passed them all on to my son and he did, indeed, purchase the Fortes. He only had to give $250 for them, too, making him quite happy with himself. He brought them over here last night and they are currently hooked up beside my Cornwalls. We had a good time listening and comparing. The Fortes sound great but I do love the sound of the Cornwalls. Thanks again. RO
  2. Thanks, guys, I appreciate the information. I purchased them in about 1991 from a friend of mine who found them, along with a then current complete B&O component set, at an estate sale. I knew he only payed $800 for the entire package and I liked the speakers a lot but thought he was qouging me when he wanted $400. for just the speakers, even thought they were in perfect condition. I'm real glad now I didn't talk myself out of paying him what he wanted for them, though. They have been great speakers and I've enjoyed them ever since. Thanks again.
  3. This may be a little off topic here, but I'm hoping that someone could steer me in the right direction. I have an old Model 19 Marantz reciever that needs some help. The left channel keeps dropping off. It usually will come back on when you boost the volume up and then reset it, but it is not as it should be. I have all the original paperwork, manual, schematics, etc. and have had it "repaired" (they replaced some diodes), but the problem keeps coming back. Does anyone know of a reputable service provider for such equipment, hopefully as close to Okla. as possible, that might be able to fix this problem for good? Any quidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  4. Thanks for the reply Doug. Actually, the ones my son is looking at are the oiled oak, OO, Fortes, my Cornwalls are the walnut, OW, set. He had only seen my Cornwalls before spotting these he's looking at. He had recognized that they were different from mine but neither of us knew what we were dealing with before we got the responses to my initial inquiry. This is a great iformations source. I'm sure we will be back often. Do you have any idea what the RV suffix on the Type is idicative of? Thanks again for the response.
  5. Thanks for the information. I will pass it along to my son. My understanding is that on the Type label the FOR indicates Forte, the OO is for oiled oak, but what does the RV stand for? Again, thanks for the response.
  6. My Cornwalls bear serial numbers, 10P727 and 10P728. Can anyone tell me when they were made or anything else about them? How do they compare to what is currently available? Any idea as to their worth today? Thanks
  7. I have a pair of walnut cornwalls that I purchased used several years ago and have been very happy with them. My son has located a pair that he describes as being klipschs that are walnut finished and similar in size to my cornwalls but with maybe a 12"woofer rather than the 15s in mine and having another large driver on the back side. The tag on them says Type:FOR 00 RV Serial No.8927650 and then 202/32/(0418)(0501). Can anyone tell me what they are and give me any info on them? Any idea as to their age or what they are currently worth would be greatly appreciated. I can find nothing that seems to relate to them on the Klipsch web site. Thanks
