  1. Go with brand new 4.1s for $199, or better still buy two sets of refurbs for $300, add an Audigy 2 and get 6.2 surround sound.....
  2. If anyone has a suggestion for the remaining two satellites let me know. What speakers are people using for 6.1 surround with the Audigy 2 ? I had no interest in the Creative Labs 6.1 speakers myself. I am happy to have been able to keep using my Klipsch 4.1s, adding the needed front and now rear channels.
  3. The Sherwood XDTS decoder is available on EBAY. Does it work well with Klipsch ??
  4. Double checked the soundcard settings and in the playback section noticed that the CD option was not muted. Muting that as Amy suggested cleared the high hiss level and now the speakers sound as clear as before. Thanks Amy.......
  5. It was my understanding that the speakers go into standby mode when the computer is turned off or no signal is detected. But there is no hiss if the computer is off. All inputs are muted. The speakers are connected to the Acoustic Edge through the analog outs. I will try switching to a set of Philips multimedia speakers to see if the hiss is related to the card output.
  6. Just noticed hiss from all four speakers with the volume above the mid point. Is that common ? The rear hiss is starting to become noticeable with movies when quiet periods occur. The setup includes an Acoustic Edge.
  7. Emailed you yesterday Amy. The problem is a pulsing static sound coming through all four speakers despite clean connections throughout. The problem was absent with the original control pod and disspeared when the original unit is reconnected. The only time the noise dissapears is when I place my hands close to the unit on both sides..... All four speakers then quiet down.... Watching a movie or worse still playing a game is impossible in that position....
  8. Upgraded to the new unit with no problems... until the speakers were turned on.... static from all four speakers greeted me. The problem emanated from the new unit. Placing my hands near or around it made the static disappear, so I think there is a shielding problem that may be causing the distortion. Replacing it with the old unit corrected the problem. Does Amy want another return ??
