  1. Hello all, I have watched your site for almost a year now, spending waaaay too much time going through the great threads here.

I was first introduced to Klipsch speakers in 1996 when I was stationed at Kadena Air Base in Okinawa. The Base Exchange had a nice selection of Klipsch speakers and that is when I fell in love with the Heresy. Purchasing them wasn't an option at the time and I am glad i didn't anyway. I never would have taken care of them the way I will now. The version I liked had what I've seen referred to as Cane grilles.

Well I now live in Phoenix and I have kept a close eye on Craig's List and Ebay and the 1st set of Heresy speakers I chose to buy were from Ebay. This is after missing out on numerous pairs that popped up on CL. Man do they ever go FAST! My Ebay pair are HII's in BR and were made in 84'. This pair is in poor physical shape. They are unfinished and appear to have spent there days in a garage. Cabinets are dirty and the grilles were a little smelly and not perfect. Fortunately the speakers perform awesome! I scored these for $206/shipped! At the time I found these I had been reading the the in depth refinishing projects that are posted here so I figured I would redo these down the road. I am currently in college so I'm not concerned about doing it now.

Two weekends ago I was preparing to post an ad on Craigs List for some electronics. While on the main electronics page I spied a posting for some Heresy II's. They appeared to be in very nice condition based on the pictures so I called the seller. 30 minutes later I was picking up my 2nd pair of HII's. Like my 1st pair these are sequentially #'d HII BR's but the condition of this set is by far superior and they have been stained a nice brown. The grilles are impecable and the cabinets are very nice(very minor marks. Their tops are lightly faded. These were build in 87' and i got them for $200.

I feel very lucky to have found these pairs for merely $200/pr. With the quickness that ads for Heresies are removed from Craig's List I'm sure I could move them quickly if I decided to. And that leads me to my question. I sit here with $400 invested in 2 pairs of speakers, both fully functional but with one requiring a facelift. I also have a 6pc set of Totem DreamCatchers that I would sell. I figure if I sold all of these speakers I could easily afford to buy a new pair of HIII's and maybe have some change to put down on a tube amp(which I have never owned but have always coveted).

Should I even consider trading in 2 pair of functional HII's for 1 pair of new HIII's? I figure this would lighten my load as well as get me a pair of speakers that should last 20yrs+ without any issues.
