  1. ok here goes.. Now that I am over the shock and awe....what are all the buttons on the amps for and how do I use them? Is there a dummies guide to this equipment? thanks again, linda
  2. those are part of the old surround speakers that are not hooked up.
  3. first picture. thank you for the picture help. The football game is being heard through them as we speak..;-)
  4. Yeah its nice. I need to find where to upload a picture.
  5. Hi all, We will be packing up and heading out this thursday with a motorcycle trailer in tow to carry the system back. When it is home, Ill take pictures and we can get it set up! Thanks! Linda P.S is the Klipsch fellow a dentist in Broussard? If he is, my husband knows him.
  6. I didnt pay any mind to the CD player but it was a sony I think? The "record player" my sister wanted. Im not sure of the brand . Ill find out.
  7. hahaha well, you make it sound pretty funny and I am glad this forum is so friendly as I will most likely need advise after getting it here. I am concerned about how it will fit in the house for sure. I will not have the black cabinet so the Mac things will be out of there. One of them is very very heavy. I do like the idea of speakers off the floor so it is easier to clean around. Most people I know have smaller combined systems. I also wanted to eventually have speakers on the back patio. I thought the Bose was a good stereo, and I am going to learn the differences in the smaller speakers/system or whatever you want to call it and the few components I'll have here to play with and enjoy. It will all take a little time. I wonder if I can keep the smaller system hooked up now, and somehow add the macs and khorns ? Even if they have to be used seperately? Ill want to try the macs and khorns with the tv and a blueray player. I also have a DVD burner that transfers VHS to DVD I like to use.I will be bringing back a CD player as well as a VHS player. My DVD burner will play VHS and DVDs. The Blueray player will do music as well as Video, but maybe the seperate CD player my father has hooked up to the system will be a better sounding one for music through the speakers and amps? I just dont know. thanks, Linda
  8. Thank you all for the replies. If I think of anything else Ill ask again. It has been a welcome distraction from the loss. When I get it here Ill let you know. I will look for the wing nuts to get the grills off. We will be loading them in a motorcycle trailer for the trip. Hi Allison!
  9. Thank you very much. My father was an aeronautical engineer. He loved his stereo and even not knowing about what I was looking at, I could appreciate the quality of the equipment. He sometimes would wake us up (as teenagers) to the marine corp. band with the volume. The system we have now is newer than that one but I believe it is the same brand equipment. I guess I grew up with Macintosh and Klipsch.
  10. I will look into the capacitors when I have them here at the house. Thank you very much for telling me what to look for.
  11. LOL, Thank you for the happiness scale! That was pretty funny. And thank you for the info. Yes I am in the Lafayette area. I will have more info later. I will be driving back to Florida in January to pick this up. In the meantime I think I have a couple cell phone pictures somewhere I will find and post. I have a small generic Panasonic surround sound system now that this will replace. So the 2 channels mean I cannot add any more speakers to the amp/amps? What is the difference in the sound from the Bose systems I see everywhere? Thanks again, Linda
  12. Thank you. I dont really know what 2 channel is. My interest is in understanding and enjoying what I have at this time, to see if it all fits and works well in my home etc. Is this any good for surround sound for movies as well? How does this compare with the newer stereos in sound quality? The equipment is in Florida and I will be moving it to Louisiana. Thats why the questions about transporting without harming especially the large speakers. Thank you very much! sincerely, Linda
  13. I have inherited a stereo system from my father. I know nothing about this and would like a few questions answered if possible? The unit are McIntosh C33 stereo power amp, and a McIntosh 2255 stereo power amp along with 2 large Klipshorn speakers. 1) Why are there 2 amps? Does one compliment the other somehow? 2) I have the original boxes they came in and packed them as carefully as I could. Is there something I need to know about transporting them a long distance? Can they be put on their sides at all etc.? If so which side? One of them is very heavy. I dont know exactly how heavy. Is there somewhere to find the exact weight? 3) How do they differ from the newer versions in sound quality etc? 4) What would be the best CD,DVD, etc player to connect to these for the best quality of sound they are able to put out? What about cables to connect the equipment? What do I look for if I need to replace them? 5) I do not have the boxes for the speakers. What is the best way to move them. Where are the delicate areas? These things are HUGE. What do you use to move them around and what areas need to be the most protected? 6) Is there any value in these units even though they are a little older than the new ones? If so how do I find their worth? I would like to have this information before I move the system. Is there anyway in particular to move or carry them that would be easiest on them? Thank you very much for your time, ANY information is appreciated. Linda Guidry
