  1. I just got the ProMedia 2.1's and I hooked them up to my computer and began to play some music using Winamp. With less than a 1/4 turn of the volume and the bass set at the little white mark on the speaker itself, the speakers went crazy with a GOD awful screech that I thought was going to make my ears bleed. I've basically tried everything. I adjusted all the settings in my volume control so that everything was very low (such as the wave , volume, synth, etc.). No matter how I set things or even if I turn off the EQ in Winamp, it still blows up. HELP ME!!! I thought these were good speakers? I also think it may have something to do with the sub woofer since I can barely turn it on even less than 1/4 turned. In fact I think it is the subwoofer since it is more likely to blow up when I adjust this over the actual volume itself. What can I do? I have a sound card that is a Creative Labs Sound Blaster AudioPCI 128. I've never heard such a HORRIBLE sound in my life. What is wrong? Could it be a defective cable? Well, I think that's all I can tell you. I'd really appreciate any info anyone can give me. Thanks. Sincerely, Pissed off ProMedia 2.1 speakers
