  1. Hey thanks for the reply I actually need to raise the TV a lot, right now I have an eight inch block of styrofoam that one of the speakers was packed in. It does the job but I don't wanna carry a block of styrofoam around whenever I move! Plus I'm not sure how it'll hold with time... I don't know, should I just drop an extra 80 and get the 52?!
  2. Hey folks, I just received my set up of 4 B-3s and a C-3. The only problem is the C3 is too big for my TV desk. I can put it in front of the TV but then it blocks out a good two or three inches of the bottom of the screen. I was thinking I could return it and get an RC-35, which is about the same price but rectangular so I can put the TV on top of it. This will save me having to pay someone to build some sort of shelf. It'll be easier and faster to just get the RC-35. But how do the speakers compare quality wise? Will the 35 blend with my B3's? Specs wise the RC is 125 Watts while the C3 is 150 Watt, and the RC has a frequency response of 56 - 20000 Hz comapred to the C3's 73Hz - 23kHz. The RC is much heavier though at 26 pounds compared to the C3's 15 pounds. Alternatively I could get the RC-52 but it's an extra $80 which I'd really rather not spend. I haven't picked up a sub yet, that's later down the road. Many thanks for your suggestions, I'd like to make a decision soon! AR
  3. If you're willing to get slightly larger speakers you should also try the B-3's, S-3's and C-3 as a center. Amazon has all three for $560. http://www.amazon.com/Klipsch-Synergy-Bookshelf-Loudspeakers-Black/dp/B000MZE68A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1261935822&sr=1-1 That doesn't include a sub unfortunately but full size speakers should give a much better sound than the smaller 'lifestyle' designs and you can pick up a sub later or buy a $100 sub. Even if you stick to smaller speakers I'd advise against Bose. I used to own two Bose systems but after hearing competitors (like the B&W MT-30, the Kef 3005/5005) I sold the Bose and couldn't be happier! AR
  4. That's exactly what I wanted to hear, gracias!
  5. Oh wow I didn't know that! Seriously, I have the speakers (in my main living room) to the side just because my couch is against the back wall and I always thought that was wrong. Cool, thank you for the reply. I'm actually going to be listening to music 70% of the time, playing ps3 20% of the time and watching movies 10% of the time. It'll mostly be stereo music but I'll probably have it piped through all four speakers whenever I'm having a party. Would that still be cool for the B-3s or do they only really benefit from music specifically recorded in a multi-channel format?
  6. Hey folks, I took advantage of the Amazon/Vanns Klipsch B-3 sale to pick up two pairs as well as a C-3 center speaker. I was going to set them up as a 5.1. Klipsch actually recommends the S-3 as rears but some of the previous posts said the B-3s would be better since they're direct firing and that's what DD/THX recommend? Is the 'Wide disperson technology' of the S-3s just a gimmick? For what it's worth, they're basically equivalent in price, the B-3s being $150-180 and the S-3s being 200. The S-3s have two tweeters compared to the B-3s but I don't know if that's necessarily better. The B-3s are bigger and heavier and I've always heard that with speakers, heavier is better. I know there have been threads about this in the past but they always ended up with "why are you buying the Synergy series, buy Reference instead" and a clear answer was never given. Lets please try to stay on topic here. I have the Sony STR-DN1000 (yea I know Sony gets a bad rep but it's a great amp for the sub $300 price) and I don't have a sub yet, will get that when next month's paycheck comes in. Anyway, I feel like I'm going crazy trying to decide! So, once and for all, should I return one pair of the B-3s and get S-3s instead or just keep B-3s for front and rear? Many thanks for your help, AR
