  1. Sounds good...thanks for the votes...I'll keep my eyes open for the RC62 and forget the booksheves-as-center-channel idea. Just curious, but why would splitting the center signal between two bookshelves be a bad idea? (two RB61's = two 6.5 woofers and two horns compared to one horn on the RC62).
  2. I'm a newbie too, but ran across an article that specifically mentioned that the horn will perform very poorly on its side.
  3. I'm currently trying to replace an RC-52 that was being used with RF-82 fronts and RB-61 rears. I'm looking at the RC-62 as it fits the budget, but have been reading about using bookshelf speakers as a center. Any thoughts about using a single RB-61 as a center? Or could I split the center signal between a pair of RB-61's? Would this sound worse/better than using a RC-62? I know that the ideal would be a single RF-82 as a center, but then I would have to mount my TV about 4 feet off the ground []
  4. Finally got a chance to test these out...put in Lord of the Rings (Two Towers) and watched the scene with Frodo arriving at the gates of Mordor. It has some serious bass when the gates open and the orks march in. The Velodyne was by far a better match for the RF82s. Far less distortion at higher volumes and more rumble when you expect it. Overall a "cleaner" sound that feels better. Music is a toss-up -- but I think most of the bass is coming out of the 82s on a regular CD. Thanks to all for the advice.
  5. Thanks for the responses so far...I will try to listen to the Velodyne and look a little more closely at the other ones that were suggested. Of the two that I mentioned, I was wondering about the wattage...200 vs 260...is that a concern in a big room? Will it be able to fill the space? I heard that higher wattage is better to fill a big room while a larger diameter woofer is better for reproducing the lower frequencies. So, between these two, I have the higher wattage but smaller woofer vs the lower wattage but bigger woofer. Any thoughts? Thanks again!
  6. Hi all...newbie here, just buying my first Klipsch setup. After lots of reading, bought the RF82 fronts and decided on the RC62 center (haven't bought it yet). Paired with the RB61 bookshelves as rears. I'm trying to pick a sub for a 20x30x9 room (5400 cu ft)...the store here only has the RW-10d, but also has a Velodyne DLS-4000R that they are willing to sell for an extra $100 over the Klipsch. The Klipsch is 10", 260W (http://www.klipsch.com/na-en/products/rw-10d-specifications/) while the Velodyne is 12", 200W (http://www.velodyne.com/products/specs/dls_r.html). The sales guy said hands down, take the Velodyne but I was hoping to get some opinions from people based on either specs or experience. I know about other online manufacturers, but would like to choose between these two. Any comments appreciated! Forgot to mention -- about 50/50 movies/music.
