redterminator

Hey guys, I'm looking for a set of slim speakers and the XF-48s seems like a good choice. My concern is with the placement. Some reviews I've read say that placing them near walls significantly impacts the sound. Can XF-48 owners comment on how they placed them? I only have a couple feet of space including the space for the speakers themselves so wondering if these will work or I should move on. Also, any suggestions on a good matching center for these? The XL-23 doesn't have great specs and I've read that it seems underpowered for the towers.
